if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

"The Girl Next Door" is an excellent movie and by the end of the movie I was left wanting more from these characters. Matthew played by Emile Hirsch gave a tremendous performance throughout this movie and there was never a dull moment either. I loved the chemistry between Matthew and Danielle, it felt magical and I was rooting for them to be together when things started spiraling out of control with Timothy Olyphant's character trying to get in the middle of Matthew and Danielle's relationship and cause controversy. This element kept me interested in the entire movie, but I also loved how Matthew and Danielle never quit on each other and the one scene where he kisses her in front of the 2 other popular jocks will always resonate with me because of how that girl belongs to him. He would not let anything or anybody stand in his way of being with Danielle and that's why I believe this movie to be a 10/10. PERFECTION.

There was a lot of hype for this movie, and frankly the hype setup viewers for this movie's situational irony. The characters were attractive ranging from the usual suburban high school cliques to adult film producers and starlets. Eroticism and high school graduation, as a pair, always attracted attention, and this movie capitalized on this taboo reality. Having these polarized yet ancillary characters made most of this movie's humor based on the novelty of the friendships. This movie definitely illustrated the quiet kinkiness lurking in high school academics while addressing issues of moral sexual behavior. American Pie and She's All That each made boundaries within which this movie operated.

The first time I've watched this movie must have been nearly 10 years ago. I've seen many good movies before, and after. In those then years my taste and opinion about nearly everything has changed, except „The Girl Next Door". Reasons why this is most underrated teen comedy of mid 2000's:1. Young and great actors (teenagers are played by actual teenagers!)2. Best comedy I've seen in years (not too offensive, not too poor)3. Good storyline and a plot twist (not too predictable)4. It's a clever comedy, also a great love story5. There's a little thrill throughout the whole movieReasons why you might hate it:1. It's a teen comedy – similar to other teen comedies2. It has a few "awkward to watch with parents" scenes3. Even though it has a nice message, do not expect it to be too deepI encourage every romantic - teen - comedy movie lover to watch it now, before it gets too old. In another 10 years "The girl next door's" humor might become less relevant, just like 80's movies today are to someone who grew up in the 90's and later.Movies with a similar vibes: "Euro Trip"(2004) and "American Pie" series.
