The Device Trailers

Abby and Rebecca Powell haven't seen each other since a traumatic event in their youth ripped them apart. Reunited for the first time in over a decade, the sisters take a trip to spread their mother's ashes at a secluded lake. As the sisters reconnect and try to heal old wounds, something waits in the nearby woods. A strange object, made not by the hands of man, beckons them to it. As they begin to try and unlock its secrets, Abby is plagued by nightmares of an alien presence that seem all too real. Little do the sisters realize that this object is actually a device, one with a purpose too horrible to comprehend. As the events of the past and the present begin to merge, new discoveries will threaten to tear apart their newly reformed family, and the inhuman creators of the device will attempt to finish a terrible experiment begun years before.

When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

The Device-A thing created for a particular purpose. From the Indie label The October People comes The Device, written by Jeremy Berg and John Portanova, Berg coming off directing The Invoking, a 2013 horror. The reason I love this film is why I'm sure many love this film, yes, Angela DiMarco. I promised this young lady a review, I'm better for having seen The Device. Angela well on her way to being a household name, having 6 projects in the coming year of 2016. This film starts off with the introducing of the characters, Abby(Angela DiMarco), and her husband Calvin(David S Hogan) meeting up with her estranged sister so they can bury they're mothers ashes. Her sister Rebecca played by Kate Alden. After returning to there cabin, Abby finds her sister in the woods and discovers what seems to be plane wreckage, and a small black, round sphere, The Device. Rebecca is against having the sphere, but Calvin sees potential financial gain. They return home, bringing Rebecca along to stay for awhile, Calvin experiments with the sphere discovering it's not normal at all, defying gravity, and him, only him hearing voices. You soon learn the Device is of Alien Origin, Rebecca soon shares to Abby that 12 years ago the event of why they were estranged was a false story, she was actually in the presence of Aliens. All of this is compacted after discovering she is pregnant, but soon learns that the baby, is not Calvins, or hers. What holds this film in place is the acting, Angela and David being a husband and wife team on set is always great to work with, you will get good chemistry amongst your principals. The Directing was on par for the story written. With all of this said, this is an indie film, not a 50 million dollar blockbuster, I do wish there was a little more while leading up to the end, maybe showing more with Cakvins character having the black eyes, maybe blood coming out of his nose and ears well before the end. The dreams Abby had were good but needed to be slightly more horrific, all in all this a well directed, superbly acted film, 7-10

This movie violates one of the main rules of horror movies. Don't show the monster too much. Or at least spend some more money to have some good special effects. This movie has some pretty corny looking aliens.Since I have recently seen another movie with similar themes, I was pretty bored most of the time. The twists are predictable and the general direction that the movie takes can be seen a mile away if we have seen enough of these movies. The low budget is evident. The performances are not that bad but I thought the male lead was not really adequate. He looks creepy right from the beginning. The women are not that bad.I don't understand how intelligent aliens can really lose track of someone just because the tracker has been removed or whatever. Seems they are very lazy aliens. But seriously alien abduction is such a tired and clichéd story and this movie doesn't give anything new to the usual story.Overall it is quite boring and clichéd.4/10

One thing that sums all up this movie: The trailer is so much better than the actual full length. Not kidding!Cast: Not bad.Music: Somewhat good.Effects: Not good, but not awful either.Plot: Three people encounter a strange device while in a secluded forest cabin. They touch it and ultimately they start to get feeling strange and deviated. (Humm...awkward)The plot is very predictable, there are clichés everywhere, the pacing of the film blows away the narrative into an incoherent and confusing chaos. The whole film seems an unfinished puzzle until the very end as if the viewer is meant to be thrown into a spiraling and awkward, ambiguous conclusion. For fervent sci-fi fans this flick could be enjoying. For me it was just like watching a mundane and humdrum bizarre story to be rapidly forgotten as soon the movie rolls its ending credits.

This is a real sleeper. Let me spare you the horror of wasting 90 minutes of your life and brain power watching this garbage. Here's the gist of the movie: 2 estranged sisters reconnect after the death of their mother. They travel to their ancestral cabin in the woods where the younger sister suffered a trauma many years ago. What was thought as an abduction/rape by her then boyfriend is later revealed as alien abduction and impregnation. they stumble on crash site where they find curious looking black sphere. The black sphere (the device) is a beacon to tell the aliens (greys) their location - so they can come and collect the alien baby growing inside the host (the older sister).I hope I've convinced you to avoid this.
