Better Late Then Never
... View MoreAt first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
... View MoreMostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
... View MoreIt's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.
... View MoreNope, this is not even close to being a Star wars movie, it is garbage that's what it is. The artwork is terrible, the character designs are really bad, and the story? Well, the story...is atrocious. Don't waste your time with this! Only see this film if you are a true Star wars fanatic and must see absolutely every Star wars film made, Otherwise just avoid it.I give Star Wars: The Clone Wars a 3/10
... View MoreThis Star Wars film really acted as a prequel to the 'Clone Wars' TV series that followed, and is more of a pilot than anything. It's an entertaining enough film though, designed to fill in the gaps in the saga, much like that new films that they're making now. Isn't it funny how history repeats.I don't think any huge 'Star Wars' fans pay it too much attention though. The voices for many of the characters aren't the same as the live action films, and rarely gets much wider acclaim. In truth you can probably forget it even exists at all. At some moments of the film it's actually quite tempting.
... View MoreThis is not a Star Wars movie, so it's hard to understand why they tried to label it as one. It takes place in the Star Wars galaxy with characters from the Star Wars movies, but if anything it's a TV-special. It's obviously targeting a much younger crowd than the movies, but I feel you can do this without dumbing down the story to such a degree as this movie does.I don't mind the look of the show/movie, the characters are recognizable, and the style is true to itself. It seems like they tried to use computer animation that would not age too bad - choosing a rubber/plastic look over something more organic. This works best for the robots and the alien characters - the humans ends up feeling more like dolls. The voice actors (some of which are the original actors from the movie!) do an okay job with what they are given, but the lifeless characters are not able to convey the emotions of what is being said. But that's not even the movie's main problem. The movie's problem is that it is very obviously pieced together episodes from a TV-show. The seams are almost showing! Releasing something like this as a "home media" compilation - like they often do with cartoon shows - would make sense. But as a feature length theatrical movie under the Star Wars banner?! Madness.
... View MoreThe original reviews of this film are seeped with venom and I can hardly blame them. This movie, which is essentially the first three episodes of The Clone Wars TV series strung together, should not have received a theatrical engagement and definitely received one solely for the purpose of a quick buck (an effort which backfired since this is the only SW film to bomb at the box office to date). The animation is ghastly, with stiff characters. The fight scenes drag and become boring. And the kiddie element is shamelessly at play, from those irritating battle droids bantering to the irritating Ziro the Hutt. But does this movie really deserve one star ratings? No. To say this is worse than the prequel films is laughable. At least here Anakin Skywalker has a personality, one which is likable. The plot is solid enough and there are enough good moments to cancel out some of the cringe-worthy ones. Honestly, this movie's worst sin are the long, boring stretches where there's nothing but laser blasts and mindless light saber battles going on.If you've never seen The Clone Wars series before, then I urge you not to watch this first. The kiddie elements and poor animation may put you off, which would be a shame because the TV show is excellent. The animation, character dynamics, and stories are of high quality, and there is a maturity on display in them rare in "family" television. This is for completionists only.
