I love this movie so much

... View MoreWhile it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
... View MoreAre the stories and jokes in this show ones that only Arabic people really get? Like is there a cultural difference like there is between English and French or other cultures where there are certain jokes they get that regular English westerners do not get? Serious question because I watched this show and I am mystified by how anyone can be entertained by these "jokes", so if there is a cultural difference that would explain it in a positive way I can certainly understand and I just don't get the jokes they are doing because I see the world in a different way. But to any English westerners who like this show I have to ask you what you are getting out of this show, I think it is just horrible with the worst jokes and acting I have ever seen on my television.
... View MoreLittle Mosque on the Prairie is completely terrible. The acting is some of the worst I have ever seen in my life. The writing is so terrible it is almost as if someone is intentionally writing a bad show as a joke or maybe a parody of a bad show. The show is just stupid with predictable stories and even more predictable jokes that you know even before the characters say them. I hate this show so much it is baffling even to myself. The acting is what irks me the most because every single one of these characters is just putrid. I don't know how or why this show got put on TV but if there is any justice it will not be back again!
... View MoreLMOTP is very much in the vein of earlier comedies about a new ethnic group integrating into the new world. OK, Muslims are not AN ethnic group and the Muslims of Mercy are am ethnic mosaic unto themselves. Admittedly the show started off pleasant, but less than brilliant and has been sliding on its charm - a bit thin and predictable. Still it's no worse than a lot of sitcoms. A bit gentle and old-fashioned for some tastes, but is that so bad? Even though I'm a Muslim I enjoy the sex-and-violence appeal of something like "True Blood" -- totally absent here -- but as a Muslim I find it very relaxing, even therapeutic, to see something about Muslims on TV that is gentle and bloodless. Some of these reviews complain that it's not controversial. Why should everything about Muslims have to be controversial? I'm tired of nearly everything on the tube about my religion and my community dripping with snark or going for the adrenaline. If this is a bit quaint and soporific, even if it is simple and clichéd it shows Muslims with a sense of humor, Muslims as ordinary people who might be your neighbors, and you'd be OK with that. That alone makes this show unique and very welcome.Arguably we all deserve better on a lot of counts, but like it or not, for humanizing Muslims on TV this is the best we have so far, and on that count it's far better than anything in the USA. Flawed as it is, LMOTP is a welcome first step in the right direction.
... View MoreThe show jumped the shark when they changed Anglican clergy. The current actor, with no negative reflection on his ability, is too antagonistic and the Anglican priest is made into a 'cartoon'. He wears his collar all the time and even the most staunch Anglican clergy I know at least take their off to shower ;-) Although I'm not Anglican, I hold a doctorate in Anglican studies, have taken courses at Anglican colleges and hold theological degrees from United, Anglican and Full Gospel colleges, including a PhD in theology. The absence of Carl Rota is another downer. Corner Gas, Canada's other giant contribution to humour, knew when to call it quits at the top of their game. In spite of the excellent acting, the story line has grown stale and it may be time to pull the plug. (I don't think this has a spoiler, but I checked the box just in case).
