The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

The lion king is one of the many beautiful and amazing creations in movie history and too see this is disappointment on epic proportions. I love lion king and Disney.. currently I am on a mission to collect and own all the great Disney movies that i grew up with so that some day when i have kids i can show then what good animation was with some acceptations such as moana, finding nemo and brave. i will not be adding the lion guard to my collection.. I'm only giving this movie a one because I cant give it a 0/10.. such a disappointment

As a kid I enjoyed watching the lion king movies,I fell in love with the franchise and was hyped when I heard about the release of the lion guard,But after I sat down to watch this 44 minute movie,I couldn't help but stare at my TV shocked at what I saw,how did this!THIS!Com out of Disney!A studio that presented us with astonishing movies such as Frzoen,Snow white,Zootopia,Brave,Robin hood,Tarzan,I could go on for days, get the idea to create this abomination?!Were they desperate for money?!Did they sit down on their couch and watch the lion king going,"I wanna make a show out of that"and BAM?!This happened?!The creators of the original movies poured their hearts into their projects and the final product was breathtaking to watch in action,we loved these movies and surely we wish for our kids to feel the same way about them as we do!But yet, this is what Disney offers are kids,Brain junk food? Before I bore you to death,I'll cut to the Chase why this movie is a big waste of time.1)The animation is lazy.Adobe flash animation?Really? The characters look strange in this type of animation style, the only one who looks good is Nala,(Lets face it she looks pretty no matter how you animate her)Besides that, the walk cycles are lazy,it's like the writers didn't feel like making a full walk cycle so they just made four frames and hoped no one would notice.Their feet look like little nubs, they barely look like their walking on the ground! Not to mention the design of the characters are just bad...People who thought simba from the lion king 2 looks bad, prepare to feast your eyes on his newest design,Compared to his second one, this Disney junior art style will make the second movie simba look like a hot fashion model that all the girls faint over.not to mention Zuri and Tifu are just copies of Kiara except with hair tufts.Overall,The animators didn't feel like making this movie and it shows,BAD!2)what happened to KiaraKiara was the protagonist in the second lion king movie,She was a adventurous cub who wanted to explore the pride lands without her father being overprotective of her.She hated the thought or mention of becoming queen,Her outer appearance was changed as well,She originally had pale orange fur, dark purple nose, light Amber eyes and a cream muzzle, belly, chest and paws. Now take all those things I previously listed about Kiara and throw it all away because now she's a pale tan color(like all the other lionesses)she has a smug, bratty, attitude and is a daddy's girl who tattletales on anyone who breaks the rules,She likes to brag that she is future queen,She is the opposite of what her original counterpart was like!I mean,Cmon Disney! You don't just take a classic character that everyone loved and then switch everything about them! Its like changing Elsa from ice to fire and making her outgoing and playful like Anna,Just..NO!3)cliche charactersWhere do I start?Nuremous characters are so stereotypical! You have the protagonist(Kion's)Bsst friend, who is carefree,Rebellious,And only likes to have fun.The tom girl who is all big and bad and stronger than the guys and possibly the main characters love interest. The fat guy with a heart of gold,And the smart nerd who knows everything and is an introvert.I've seen their personalities in so many movies,Their old,Forgettable,Just dull characters. It clearly shows the writers out no thought in these characters,They just said let's make so and so,And don't take their time trying to make them special,And coming from a company who has created characters like Mickey,Elsa,Woody,And many others,That is just plain sad.4)Is simba racist?!Wait, what?!What happened to the simba we grew up with in the original lion king?!Did Disney just wipe away his personality and made him some stuck up,Demanding father? Similar to the problem with Kiara,He just doesn't act the same.He acts like if your not a lion your nowhere as good as me,or your not worthy enough of being in the pride lands and stuff like that,It's just wrong! And to make him act this way in a children's show?!I know little ones won't understand this but parents will,This is something our children should not be introduced to,And I am ashamed Disney made that apart of his character.5)What about the Lion King 2?This is my last reason,Where does the lion king 2 fit into this time line? Some events just don't add up correctly,What about Kovu? And the outsiders?Where was Kion no his guard in the second movie? When was Kion born?these are questions fans of TLK ask and their never get explanations,Maybe in the future we will get one but for now,Things in this African world just aren't making sense. In conclusion, this movie was flawed in many ways,By changing characters,Forgettable characters,Predictable villains,And a dumb story line that everyone could guess what was going to happen half way in the movie.Overall,Awful movie,Before you show this to your kids,Shwo them the original lion king, and once they understand the originals,Then show them this crap,It's a waste of brain cells,And time.

I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this but this movie is just awful I love that they decided to make a next lion king but this just ruined the whole point in lion king 1 and 2 my reason for saying that is cause simba don't have a son he have a daughter and that was the ending in lion king 1 now in lion king 2 simba daughter grew up and got with kovu an outsider that was the end of it but now they release this as simba have a son no that certainly messed up the whole movie series it would of been better if kion was kiara and kovu son then it would of made a'lot of sense as "lion king 3 return of the roar" what also messed it up was (spoiler alert) i saw a episode that kion used the roar and sent zira and the other lions flying to the outlands when in lion king 2 simba was the one who banished them so this new movie is just bullshit (sorry for my language and if my paragraph isn't that good)

Allow me to preface this review by saying that I'm a huge fan of Lion King. It's the first film I ever saw, and I've clung to it fervently ever since. That said, I hate to write this review, but it must be done.So we start the film with Kion, a shoddily-written O.C. that seems like he could be straight out of a low-quality fan fiction. Then we're introduced to his friend Bunga, who teaches kids (multiple times) that you can leap off of cliffs and suffer no repercussions. I'll touch on him later.Soon enough, they stumble into the Outlands and we're shown that the hyenas are the "irredeemable bad guys" and then Kion does a dragon shout? He then learns that he's the new leader of the Lion Guard, an old group of lions that was designated to protect the Pride Lands. The idea is that Scar was their leader, but his power went to his head and that's the whole reason he wanted to be king. There's bread-crumbs left throughout the first film that hint towards the actual reason (sibling rivalry), which is further bolstered by the various books. Lion Guard unfortunately takes all that canon and ruins it.As far as pros go, the art-style is nice and some of the songs are catchy, but that's about it.As I've already said we've got Bunga, a honey badger who's supposed to be "brave" but comes across as more of a reckless, suicidal maniac that's taking the whole "no worries" a little too far. He is probably the single most annoying character ever, but here's a conspectus: A character that's energetic, does pretty much whatever he wants even if it's potentially fatal to him, is constantly saying his catchphrase "Zuka Zumaaaa!", and is so grating that he even inserts his own name into words. ("UnBungalievable!")So Kion goes around pulling characters out of thin air to join the Lion Guard and they all get their cutie marks. I have always assumed that the reason the hyenas have behaved the way they do is because of the conditions they're constantly subjected to, and while they are a danger to the Pride Lands in large numbers (any predator would be), they don't seem to be allowed there under any circumstances even though every other predator clearly is. The film depicts them as incapable of moderation, but considering the indigent circumstances they have to deal with, it isn't a surprise they would go overboard when presented with an all- you-can-eat buffet. However, despite all this the hyenas of TLK still manage to be lovable in their own way, and they even somewhat redeem themselves at the end by killing Scar. Lion Guard backhand slaps everything and basically makes it "good vs. evil".So the hyenas are in the Pridelands to kill tons of prey, because according to TLG they're "evil". But if you want to think about this realistically, the only reason they're doing this is because the Lion Guard is about to be up in business again. While they had a difficult time getting food before, they know they're going to have a terrible time of it after the Guard is in place. A character even states, quite shockingly, that they could resort to "eating each- other" if it comes down to it; that's how bad it's gotten for the hyenas (not that the lions really care). Kion (I think) makes some statement about "They have more than enough to feed themselves, but they're still killing.", and it's insinuated multiple times through the film that the hyenas are filthy, psychopathic killing machines that live simply to murder everything in sight. Okay, Kion; why do you think they're still killing despite taking enough? Because even if they took just enough, you'd still march down their and kick their tails. Hyenas in this universe are treated horribly. Any time one rears its head in your beloved Pridelands, some lion has to come along and stop it. While the ones we've seen so far have proved to be threatening in large numbers, we can't assume every single hyena is like this--but you'd better believe the film does. It all culminates in Kion prancing up and doing his "fus ro dah!", and then he says, "You and your kind are not welcome here, EVER.". So not only does this show that lions are choosing to suppress and ignore the problem, but also that they're so intolerant towards hyenas that it practically borders on racism. So they scare off the hyenas, and then they find Kiara is trapped behind a rock while the herd of gazelle is stampeding, so the Lion Guard go to save her. Bunga lands on the rock where she's trapped, and he aims his rear end at the oncoming stampede and lets off a fart so loud and humongous that it creates a noxious gas cloud that parts the herd like Moses parting the Red Sea. Really, Disney? Is this what it's come to? I know there was fart humor in the original film, but this is crossing the line. In fact, with the way that the fart instantly resolves the problem of the stampede, you could say that it's not a Deus Ex Machina, but a /Deus Ex Fart/. Let that sink in for a while. There you go! that's my review of the Lion Guard. Overall I give this film absolutely nothing out of ten (in fact, let's say it's negative infinity), but on IMDb one is as low as I can go so that's what I have to do. If you've read this and you're an avid fan of the original film like I am, consider yourself sufficiently warned. Disney is dead to me, and the only way I'd ever re-watch this is if someone strapped me to a chair and kept my eyes pried open.TL;DR It's horrible.
