The Return of Jafar Trailers

The evil Jafar escapes from the magic lamp as an all-powerful genie, ready to plot his revenge against Aladdin. From battling elusive villains atop winged horses, to dodging flames inside an exploding lava pit, it's up to Aladdin - with Princess Jasmine and the outrageously funny Genie by his side - to save the kingdom once and for all.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

This movie is fine but it can't beat Aladdin. That's all I can critique about it. Iago has a catchy villain song but that's all that stands out. I have not seen the 1st or 3rd in a long time but I watched this a couple years ago(why not-it's only 66 minutes long!) and thought it was alright. I am not saying you should avoid it, just know it does not live to the previous movie.

I hadn't seen Aladdin since I was a kid, and decided to give it another shot. It still holds up, and I still enjoyed it as an adult.I had heard about the sequel, but not much beyond the fact that it existed and was straight to home video. I decided to give it a shot after becoming enamoured with the first again, since I was curious if it was actually that bad. Well, the answer is yes. I read that it was basically taken from what was meant to be TV episodes, and it really shows. It feels like a TV kids cartoon, with weak story (with built in predictable TV tropes) and forgettable songs. It might be OK for little kids dying for more Aladdin after seeing the first, but I'm not even sure if all of them would enjoy it. In the end it wasn't completely horrible, but it was a pretty disappointing sequel. While the second film is rarely as good as the first, this one felt like a soul-less cash grab made without the love that was put into the original.

You can't blame Disney for wanting to cash in on the success of 'Aladdin' with this straight to video sequel, it's what they do. But there can be no denying that this sequel isn't much good, lacking in all the magic and wit that made the original so good.Of course the notable thing it's missing is Robin Williams as the Genie. Don't get me wrong, Dan Castellaneta is a good stand in (he's Homer Simpson no less) but he can't match what Robin Williams did in this role.If you're a fan of the original it's worth a watch but it's OK, certainly not spectacular.

I think if you enjoy hearing Gilbert Gottfried's incessant screeching as a performer, as I genuinely do (no, really, for a character like Iago it woks!) then Return to Jafar will be a good effort. Very good, great? Maybe not. I don't even know how necessary it might have been, but as a little kid coming off of Aladdin, which was a triumph for Disney at the time, this was a good way to bridge between the first movie and the animated series that was to come for many years on the Disney channel. It picks up right where the first one left off and follows Iago on his journey from being an awful "I'm looking out for me" kind of stooge and into being, well, semi-heroic.Of course not having Robin Williams as the Genie, and as a kid as soon as I heard it, it was something of a shock (only once though, during the Genie's first song, does he sound a lot like Homer Simpson). But he does a good enough job and makes it entertaining. I don't know what could have been improved on aside from, you know, the animation (it's not the Hollywood group, it was done overseas), or Williams but... for what it is, I like it. It may not be a strong recommendation, but it's more-so compared to the dirge of ridiculous direct-to-video garbage that Disney pumped out over the next two decades (including things like Bambi 2 and Beauty and the Beast Christmas specials). At least Aladdin, through this sequel and one more and the series, got to be its own thing in continuity and follow arcs and characters in decent timing for children of the period.
