... View MoreLet me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
... View MoreThe man with the yellow hat is named Ted Shackleford (Will Ferrell). He works at a natural history museum. Maggie Dunlop (Drew Barrymore) keeps bringing her school kids to the museum. The owner Mr. Bloomsberry (Dick Van Dyke) needs to sell the failing museum, and his son wants to turn it into a parking lot. Ted suggests rejuvenating the museum with an exhibit of the lost Shrine of Zagawa. Mr. Bloomsberry is too old, and Ted is forced to go. Only he brings back a couple of unexpected cargo. The best things about this movie is Curious George and the Jack Johnson's music. Somehow they fit together like hand and glove. It maintains the charm and simplicity of the books. This is a sweet little movie without all the gross out humor prevalent today. George is cute, and man with the yellow hat is a likable nice guy. This is a good movie for the little kids.
... View MoreBased on the popular children's books, this was a cartoon I had heard a little about, so I thought I might as well see if it was worth getting interested in. Basically a natural history museum is having a hard time attracting people, so the owner's son Junior (David Cross) wants to turn it into a parking lot, while his father Bloomsberry (Dick Van Dyke) wants to keep it running. So to try and get some more business Bloomsberry sends museum guide Ted, aka Man with the Yellow Hat (Will Ferrell), to go to Africa and find an ancient mysterious idol called the Lost Shrine of Zagawa. He finds what he thinks is the idol, a tiny keyring size gem monkey, and he also finds a mischievous and curious monkey (Frank Welker) that follows him back home. While he tries to find a way to explain the bad news of the statue and the museum's possible closure, he gives the monkey the name George (after President Washington), and tries to keep him under control. George is fascinated with the world around him, and he is never far away from creating a little bit of chaos while he has fun exploring and touching things in his wonder. Thankfully, in the end, Ted finds out the whereabouts of the true statue from the tiny one in the sunlight, the museum is saved, and Ted finally gets love interest Maggie (Drew Barrymore), with George sticking around. Also starring Eugene Levy as Clovis, Joan Plowright as Ms. Plushbottom, Billy West as Manager and Clint Howard as Balloon Man. The animation might not be the most exciting thing ever, but with good voice casting, a good story, songs by Jack Johnson (including "Upside Down" and "Supposed To Be"), and a cute and cuddly lead creature like George, you do get to have some fun. Worth watching!

... View MoreWe saw this Curious George movie today as part of Regal's Free Family Film Festival. www.regalcinemas.com/freefamilyflicks/ I totally agree with the previous comment. It is a film for kids and the kids loved it. It held their attention for the full length of the film. While there was nothing that I recall that was over their head and directed towards adults like in Shrek, it was pleasantly entertaining nonetheless. It was certainly with the price of the movie (free) and the popcorn. My 4 year old cried when it was over because she wanted to see it again. My 22 month old actually paid attention for almost an hour and then he got antsy so we stood at the wall. Not the movie's fault. It is a simple, cute movie that you can safely take children of any age to without worrying about content. Now I must search for a copy of this movie to buy for home for my daughter!
