Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

Evil might never sleep, but there's a bloody good chance of the viewer nodding off while watching this dreadful psychological thriller starring a pre-fame Heather Graham and featuring a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance by Carrie-Anne Moss (who is given top billing on the UK DVD cover!).According to director James Merendino, "the movie is about passive aggressive misogyny destroying femininity in this country". In other words it's a pretentious pile of indie semi-art-house twaddle from a director with ideas way above his station. The dialogue is stilted, the performances awkward, and the narrative disjointed. Merendino commands dreadful performances from all involved and makes every scene as mundane as possible, directing in a style that can only be generously described as perplexing.

If you see this movie on a shelf, leave it there. Its quite simply awful Bad story, bad acting, bad filming. Just watched it for the first time (and the last) and it was a waste of 90mins. Watching it i presumed it was grahams early work the acting was so bad and was shocked to find out it wasn't. Why did she do it!!Leave the film, just run away and never look back, you aint missing anything.

When I saw this, I felt like looking a little independent movie with potential for a little cult movie... Heather Graham gives a grippy performance... yes, the camera angles and cuts are really kinda culty, the costumes are very stylish (both a bit 60ies-like) and the story is , not although, but because it is confusing, quite exciting and suspense, with several surprising and unexpected turns...yeah, but the storyline doesn't count that much, it's how it is put in action... As far as the style is concerned, it reminds me a bit of a mix of "Carnival Of Souls" and "Blow Up"...

I happened to catch this over the weekend, and was bewildered the entire time. This is an odd movie, rather slow-paced, and through most of it you're scratching your head, going "Huh?" However, Heather Graham does give her character, Olive, depth and believability.
