It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.

Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

Bad writing that gives a bad name to bad writing.I suspect this was written by some hacks that were doing drugs or smashed out of their minds... or else trying to write a parody of bad f rate movies. I took it as the latter just to get through it.Perhaps it is supposed to be a comedy horror like "Scary Movie" but many of the characters are written so badly that it comes off as written by high school dropouts. The bad CGI and rubber monsters is laughable but probably not intentionally funny. SyFy has done many fun movies (like Sharnado) but they have smart, funny writing... this does not. It plays out as if someone had a few days to churn out a sequel and no real budget.I want to see an alternate scene where the kid slips, falls in the lake and is eaten in one bite. They SPOILER kill the dog but not the kid? Some of these characters are so stupid it is amazing they managed to be as old as they are. In a weird turn, the stupid kids somehow manages to transform into Magyver. I guess they wanted to redeem the stupid kid so he is suddenly is useful.Inane characters and stupider plot lines but a few glimmers of good dialogue every so often. Colin Ferguson and Michael Ironside do the best they can with the script and Yancy Butler gets in a few good lines but most seem like too stupid to be anything but croc snacks.Most of the time I am cheering on the crocs.Instead of just one giant croc, they have two large ones and several ones as they go after several groups (teens, croc hunter, family) where the plots intermingle.SyFy has lots of fun movies but this seems unintentionally funny (WTF type, not Simpsons or Scary Movie funny).

When a series of strange disappearances has him concerned, a local wildlife officer finds that they are the cause of a group of monstrous crocodiles his son has found and kept for years, and must save the locals in the area from the savage animals.For the most part this one was quite an exciting and enjoyable effort. One of the more impressive features here is the fact that this one goes for the most action in the whole series, which manages to get plenty of impressive scenes that come with the standard situations found in these films. The opening attack is quite suspenseful with the growling interrupting the sex before the brutal water attacks, the first encounter with the adult crocs in the forest, a later scene where the crocs approach the house while he's with a babysitter and the numerous amounts of attacks on the water all come off nicely enough, yet there's even more to like here from the longer action scenes. The ambush on the campers in the woods, from it stalking the girls before attacking and leading to the water ambush during their escape as it flips the boat and begins chomping on them for a great sequence, the sheriff having a tense encounter underwater with one and the first highlight battle in the escape attempt from the house which has the action from the race to get the car started while the crocs attack leading to all sorts of fun trying to get them out, a final house assault with the trapped residents holding off the creatures and finally using some ingenuity to escape all come off as extended, thrilling action scenes. Still, the finale in the supermarket is the best with a lot of successful barricading, lots of action as they chase the group throughout the aisles and force plenty of enjoyable times going after the group which is where this all score as the action rather nicely for a spectacular finale which has a lot to like. As well, there's plenty of great kills and a unique plot that evokes a lot of the original's storyline which really helps overcome the few flaws here. One of the only ones in here is the few questionable parts of the story that don't make much sense. That they're considered bad parents by the majority of the townspeople seems a little excessive considering their reputation and really makes no sense to be included, and the storyline about having gone for several years without even telling their parents about the creatures right outside their house makes no sense for the kids come off incredibly bad over that fact. The other flaw here is the rather lame CGI, as this run afoul of all the usual flaws with that as they range from shoddy, pixilated execution to barely fitting in with the rest of the action and changing sizes constantly. Otherwise, this was a highly enjoyable offering with a lot to like about it.Rated R: Graphic Violence, Nudity and Language.

Colin Fergusson gives a superb performance in director G.E. Furst's exciting entry in the Lake Placid saga. Yancy Butler and dependable Michael Ironside provide strong support with Butler giving the proceedings some much needed comedy relief. However, the light hearted moments are overshadowed by the dark, gritty horror of the giant alligator attacks that threaten to destroy all life. The shocks are unrelenting and the suspense builds to a shattering climax that is almost more than can be endured. The script is intelligent and fast paced and the images of the crocodiles in all their horrific ferocity are nothing less than haunting. This is a film that will cause many second thoughts before anyone swims in a lake again. Hi octane thrills from start to finish and Fergusson has never been better.

I really enjoyed the first Lake Placcid. It wasn't the best film I've seen, but it had a good atmosphere, had good acting and a witty script. I hated the second film though mainly because of the waste of Cloris Leachman. So considering it was SyFy, I was expecting to hate this one more. But surprisingly, while nowhere near as good as the original, it does improve, if not by much, on the second. The two main improvements were the acting and story. Neither are great here, the story is formulaic and doesn't have that many scares and the acting is amateurish from the lesser-known names. However, at least unlike the second, which was like a vastly inferior carbon copy, there is an attempt to be more original, and in terms of acting while not on the levels of Brendan Gleeson and the like from the original there is a good performance from Michael Ironside, whereas the two big names of the second film(Leachman and John Schneider) were literally wasted. There is some good scenery also. However, the crocodile effects are the worst of the three, among the cheapest of any group of special effects I've seen in a while. And to make things worse, the crocs aren't well-utilised, their scenes are lacking in suspense and they are not menacing in the slightest. The script is hilariously cheesy, the editing is choppy and you'd be hard pressed to find a likable character in this movie. All in all, pretty bad but not awful like the second. 4/10 Bethany Cox
