Threats from sinister foreign nationals aren't the only thing to fear. Bedraggled college professor Michael Faraday has been vexed (and increasingly paranoid) since his wife's accidental death in a botched FBI operation. But all that takes a backseat when a seemingly all-American couple set up house next door.

Michael Faraday (Jeff Bridges) is a college professor at George Washington University lecturing on terrorism, which conveniently fits into the story. His late wife (Laura Poe) was an anti-terrorist FBI agent who was killed in a botched raid, apparently this was loosely based on the real-life Ruby Ridge incident. Still dealing with the sudden loss of his wife, Michael cannot seem to forgive the bureau his wife worked for. A prodigious mistake where the flags were falsely raised led to the death of an innocent family along with Michael's wife and her fellow colleagues. Michael takes a great passion in his line of work and when he accidentally stumbles upon a suspicious building blueprint at the house of fellow Neighbour Oliver Lang (Tim Robbins) he begins to suspect that Oliver's family may be planning a catastrophic attack. This leads Michael to the terrifying hidden agenda of the 'friendly' Neighbours across the street. After Michael voluntarily begins researching Oliver he uncovers a very dark past, something which Oliver has been trying to hide. After finding this, Michael expresses his theories to his girlfriend Brooke Wolfe (Hope Davies) Brooke is initially not keen on accepting Michael's theories and decides to leave Michael until she notices Oliver and a suspicious package delivery in a garage. Michael eventually concludes that Oliver and his co-conspirators want the FBI headquarters this time and the finale leads to a terrifying and explosive twist. The ending throws all the Hollywood movie rules out of the window and it seems like a good thing for this. At times you think that the things that have happened in this movie must have been a coincidence but at the end when everything is revealed you realise how wrong you were, Michael didn't stand a chance and that they were one step ahead of him the whole time. There are some outstanding performances by both Tim Robbins and Jeff Bridges, the tension builds steadily throughout the whole film as you uncover more of Oliver's dark past until the dramatic twist at the very end. It is well worth the viewing and one of my favourite movies of all time.

Well, such luminaries as Tim Robbins and Jeff Bredges can probably save any movie from being bore or a drag and make it shining perfect gem. Maybe. This one, Arlington Road, a thriller about terrorism, mistaken identity, unexpected discoveries and shocking truths revealed, is not saved by their performances. Whta is wrong, we may ask. First, and this is a huge, way too huge drawback of many films, is its length - almost 2 never-ending hours. The tempo drags miserably at the beginning, then almost totally dies in the midstm then gets some acceleration, then sinks heavily again, then suddenly gets very frantic. There are numerous plot holes which I ain't going to reveal for fear of spoilers, and several moments are very questionable and scepticism-arising. Several plot lines are very pale and bealk, and thinly-worked out. So, the whole thing seemes like a very promising affair which is very much raw and undercooked and then generously over-peppered at the end.

Do not watch this movie , It basically say's terrorism can work . Don't get me wrong the acting was pretty good , The the morals are all wrong , what are they telling our young minds . I cant believe this movie was allowed to be released . Here the really bad guy wins. the story say's if A person or group of people plans a bombing that they have a good chance of getting away with a terrorist event against our government. I can not believe that the actors involved in this movie would participate in this movie , or That the people that review all these movie's had the mindless ability to let this movie be viewed by possible sick anti government groups or individual's.Don't people remember the words copy cat ant the results of copy cat ?

The movie opens very mysteriously like a horror, builds up its story like a true crime flick with a hint of political thriller here and there, yet it ends very nicely in a solid thriller fashion. The story weaves in nicely, peeling out layer by layer of information with just enough hints here and there. And the gigantic twist at the end is very satisfying to complete the solid story, although the most seasoned thriller watchers may have been anticipating that. What's quite bad about this movie is that there are more occasions of the usual coincidences that happened, which in my opinion could have ruined the build up by created discontinuance and even plot holes. The acting is very nice overall. I like how Jeff Bridges can deliver playing a dad and a grieving-inside husband at the same time. You'll see that Tim Robbins really gave a great job when you see the ending.
