Strong and Moving!
... View MoreI wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.
... View MoreThis film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
... View MoreIt is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review
... View MoreI had no clue what I was going to watch other than the title of the movie. I thought it was going to be a horror movie but as soon as I saw Marlon Wayans' face I knew it was going to be a comedy. I'm not a big fan of Marlon Wayans so I was expecting a lame movie. But to be honest I found myself laughing quite a lot. Sure there are lame parts in this movie but the funny parts are really worth watching. It's a parody of Paranormal Activity and The Exorcist combined. I know a lot of people are going to hate this movie but there will be also a lot of people that will like it. Don't watch it to see a nice story because it's a parody, they just make fun of horror movies. To me the best parts were the ones with Cedric the Entertainer in it. So if you want to chill out and have a couple good laughs A Haunted House will do the job.
... View MoreFirst thing, first if you expected this or the second movie to a flawless grand Masterpiece then you're unrealistically foolish because this is parodying at its all time best, since: Scary Movie 1, I HATE to see all of these harsh hard-core negative reviews against this motion picture, I found it an absolute blast to watch. And I will utterly explain in blatant detail why I love it.The Comedy is Dumb, LOUD, Stupid, and Vulgar and just cracks me up to the top of my lungs making me cry at my hardest, its just so unfunny it becomes funny. The Comedy is 9.8 Stars on the laugh my ass off meter. The Characters are very much like the comedy, they're Dumb, Racist, Vulgar, Loud, Annoying, Obnoxious and very much fun to watch that also deliver most of the comedy. The Characters are very likable jackasses they get 8.9 Stars on the likable jackass meter.
... View MoreI generally like the Wayans brothers comedy style but I absolutely hate the Paranormal movies. I think I would have liked it better if the single hand-held camera style wasn't used. It makes you a little dizzy and it's hard to follow. There were some funny moments but a lot of the movie is kinda awkward and uncomfortable. I think they put effort into the storyline (or lack thereof) but it feels forced and the humour is stale.Overall it had a good talented cast and normally I think I would have enjoyed something like this but I didn't like the paranormal activity influence. Nobody needs to rip-off the paranormal activity series as there have been enough stupid sequels from the original movie. Dull as hell and highly overrated.
... View MoreFrom the trailers, you might think that this is a comedy movie, a bit of a parody of horror movies and "haunted house" movies, but when I actually watched it, it seemed to be scattered.Yes, it had jokes, but it also had a plot that was well thought out. I won't share the details, but, the combination of this style of physical comedy and consistent story development should have made the movie better, but to me, it made it a bit less than excellent.I would rather they focused on making the story the focus, with jokes now and again, of focused on the jokes, and keep the whole presentation funny. From the perspective of the production, I was really impressed. The parts are done well and blend nicely... but the movie for me has no real re-watch value, so I don't like it as much as the serious horrors that it somewhat parodies (like Scream, I know what you did last summer) or the comedy-horrors that came before (e.g. the Scary Movie series). That is just my personal opinion, though... it was a 6/10 for me, but a lot of people would really love it. Purely as a one-watch movie it is a solid B+, and for those who don't watch many movies, even an A.I don't think anyone will hate it, but I wouldn't re-watch it in entirety. Looking forwards to what the production team does in the future, though. I sense untapped potential.
