It is so daring, it is so ambitious, it is so thrilling and weird and pointed and powerful. I never knew where it was going.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

Rarely does "Johnny English" do anything wrong. The movie goes exactly into the direction and structure it wants to go. It is paved with delightful humor and even romance. Rowan Atkinson delivers big time, giving Johnny English the perfect mix of slapstick Mr Bean and even some James Bond elements. That is exactly what makes him the perfect protagonist; likeable but also not completely stupid. Does the movie take itself serious? No, but it doesn't need to. The plot ist pretty predictable, but that is no problem if it is executed so well. In addition, Johnny English even features some nice action sequences and some good relationships. But At the end of the day, it's the humor that makes the movie. Over all nearly 90 minutes (that by the way never drag) the laughs never stop coming. It is not the deepest comedy, but the laughs feel fresh, well written and performed great by Atkinson. Even the supporting actors such as Ben Miller & Natalie Imbruglia do a fine job.All in all, "Johnny English" is far from a cinematic masterpiece with excellent storytelling, iconic one liners or the most exciting and deep plot. But I would lie if I said I don't have a good time watching this movie over and over again and still laugh all the way. 9/10

In "Top Secret" Val Kilmer sang,"How silly can you get?" This dumb flick answers his question. Beats me how so many good actors get raked into this "time-waster" sort of movie. It barely has a plot. What it has stumbles along and is disjointed(I'm not talking about Mr Bean's acting either!) If a production team wants to take the proverbial out of the "Bond genre",how about doing it with a super smooth well-mannered nit from the David Niven stable? Rown shows a flash of brilliance then descends to Lou Costello tricks!Hard to believe it cost 35,000,000. In all movies of this kind the baddie really gets to strut his stuff. John M.s evilness was just enough for "family consumption" Lorna whats-her-name from Interpol gave a formula performance that would have satisfied the Bond production people.Talk about a curates egg!

Johnny English is what it promises to be – an amusing and light-heard film. But what would you expect from Rowan Atkinson, the actor in Mr Bean? There are some strikingly funny scenes in the movie. But be prepared for some outlandish humor and chauvinistic jokes. But be prepared also for 007 and Austin Powers-style gadgets, which (I hope) you'll also laugh at, as I did. However, there are some weaker aspects to the film. For example, the movie portrays Chinese people as the bad guys and, in a way, vilifies them (though there are certainly bad apples in the Chinese race). Another one is that thinking logically, you would find some scenes improbable. In short, though this movie was a bit short of in-depth food for thought, it was a quite funny and light-hearted comedy. Very suitable if you're just looking for an hour or so of laughter and nothing in-depth.
