SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?

Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

I do not usually watch TV shows which are longer than a couple of episodes as I hate to be tied up but this one really got me stuck. Here in Malta I watch it on Italian TV, two episodes which start at 2.30am and end at 4.30am and still it is all worth it. Forget Lost and Prison Break which have promising starts but then end up boring you to death, Third Watch is a real masterpiece and the characters really get you involved especially Boscorelli and Yokas. This show also gives a touch of reality of what its like to be a police officer in NY and the toll this job can have on one's private life. Well done to all those involved in this masterpiece of a show.

This is my favorite television show to watch, even though it ended its run over a year ago. I never watched the show during its run, and came across it one night when I couldn't sleep. After watching a few episodes over a few consecutive nights, I found myself liking the show and the characters, and began watching and taping the show on a regular basis. The characters are great. You really find yourself caring about them, and hated to see them hurt. The most endearing characters to me were Monte 'Doc' Parker, Faith Yokas, Ty Davis Jr., Bobby Caffey, Maurice 'Bosco' Boscorelli, Jimmy Doherty, and Kim Zambrano. The actors on the show are all exceptional as well. Coby Bell is my favorite actor from the show and is very underrated. He's an incredible actor. Molly Price is also extraordinarily talented, and yet she's not a household name. She's great. Michael Beach also, as Doc, was really good. The rest of the cast, also, was just impeccable. The writing on the show was some of the best I've seen on TV. The story lines were compelling and completely sucked you in for sixty minutes each episode. Then, you're left waiting on the edge of your seat for the next episode. The show had a devoted following, but was inexplicably cancelled by NBC in March of 2005. With the NBC network really struggling right now, they should really be kicking themselves for cancelling such a great show. I guess 132 episodes on A&E will have to be enough.

It seems that another good police drama disappears like the dinosaurs. It started with shows like Hill Street Blues, Homicide: Life on the Street, NYPD BLUE and now THIRD WATCH. I guess actors need to move on some time but I am still left disappointed with the loss of these excellent shows. Third Watch did something that no other "cop show" managed to do. In the aftermath of 9-11 this show captivated audiences with its portrayal of emergency services workers trying to cope after the greatest of unbelievable tragedies. Its further episodes brought light to real issues affecting emergency workers, whether it was Sullivan's alcoholism or Doc Parker's post-traumatic stress. It was fiction with purpose. What are the viewers left with now? Blind Justice (which was thankfully canceled) and other garbage "quirkie" cop shows. Didn't we learn after "Cop rock"? that quirk did not work in police fiction. It was simply too serious a subject. Police drama sometimes brings more reality to viewing then reality TV. NBC should consider an appropriate spin-off or replacement. Maybe shows like "The Projects" about New York Housing Cops or "NY Transit" about subway cops, or even take another try at the elite ESU (Emergency Services Unit)-It was tried once before in the 80's. New York seems to be a venue for so many good story lines. They could even spin-off a series following Ty as he becomes the boss of his own precinct? Don't just leave the viewers hanging...step-up and bring back good police drama to balance out the reality TV B.S. Thanks for your attention.

Third Watch will be remembered as NBC's secret stunner. For 6 seasons this show persevered through several slot changes and a lack of promotion by the network. While NBC spent most of their time promoting all of the Law and Order Series, their must see comedies, and lack luster reality series, Third Watch remained largely in the shadows of the network. Still, this show managed to bring viewers to the edge of their seats every week and kept their plot lines fresh, intriguing, and emotionally appealing. The cast went through small changes but remained mostly intact up until it's fifth season. Regardless, the talent on this show would rival any other on NBC or any network, even cable channels which are usually known for their own breakthrough television. Third Watch was a fish out of water on a network that never realized what it had. The faithful fans followed the show relentlessly and hopefully after the series ends more fans will be gained through release of the seasons on DVD. I recommend this show for those who not only love good television, but also love great film making. The show is visually stunning and puts new angles on the traditional cop show format. Maybe it wouldn't be as special if NBC had ever given it the recognition it truly deserved. Third Watch, I believe, will go down in history not as just another cop drama, but as a show that encompassed what it really means to be a police officer, fireman, and paramedic on any street in America and also show everyone that not all of those people are perfect and righteous. On Third Watch, as in real life, there are good guys and bad guys. This show gave you a view into the worlds of both groups.
