A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

From the realistic and dynamic family relationships, to Don Johnson just being a stud, "Nash Bridges" has it all. This is my most favorite television show of all time and I wish that it had begun when DVD sales were able to determine the success of TV show. CBS killed it because costs were around $2 million an episode by 2001--something that in today's market is now offset by DVD sales (why do you think "Battlesar Galactica" has made it this long with a 1.4 share? Sell $100 million in DVDs and execs won't cancel you).I have been missing the shot-on-location, man with a bitchin' car, stuff exploding, cop/PI action shows of my youth and Nash really quenched that thirst. If you are a fan of "Rockford Files", "Magnum PI", or "Miami Vice", "Nash Bridges" was made for you.The only show that can compare here in 2009 is USA's "Burn Notice".

This is beyond a doubt the worst detective show to appear on television. Don Johnson must have had an ironclad no - cancellation clause in his contract because the show was mired in the bottom of the Nielsens. The show was muddled, to say the least. The sets were confusing. Cool-guy Don naturally lived in a penthouse/loft hybrid of a place with bricks appearing here and there in the decor. His ex-wife and daughters kept cropping up to add deadweight to a dead show. By the way, did you know that Don was shagging the 17-year old girl who played his daughter (Jody O'Keefe)? I read it in the Enquirer, and most of that stuff, believe it or not, is true. The supporting cast was composed of boring character actors, not the least being Cheech Marin. The balding, pudgy actor was a mere shadow of the funnyman of the 70's and 80's. He was a humorless, bland, chubby, depressed-looking guy. So when this 5'1" dynamo married a sexy Swedish bombshell on the show, credibility took another hit. And what about the police station or city hall or whatever it was? It was always under construction, it seemed. Another annoying detail. Don Johnson was cool in Miami Vice. Here, he just wore a sweater-vest and sportcoat and acted bored. That 1971 Challenger he rode around in was yellow with a white interior(yuck!). It, too, seemed bored.

One of the best cop shows I have seen on Television in years and I still watch the old 60's programs a lot.The only down side is Jamie Gomez, this guy couldn't act if his life depended on it.Don Johnson has scored another winner after his successful run with Miami Vice.I only wish they would have kept the program on for a few more years...the way they ended the final season allowed for a possible return.....but reruns will have to work for now although it would be cool to see Don and Cheech make a television movie similar to what they have done with the Waltons.

I never watched the series until it was canceled and running on the USA Network in syndication. (My Bad!) This is a wonderful show and although it was based on crime fighting, the relationships between it's characters (and I mean characters!) is the primary draw. Not only does the "Nash" character has to deal with ex-wives, a daughter becoming a woman, a dad (Nash's Father) whose dementia is forcing confusing and even tender moments in all of their lives, it's the interaction with all of the colorful characters of San Francisco and the Bay Area in general. The repeating sub characters, Boz, Pepe, Tony B, Jake Cage, Eldon and Tamara Van Zant add a continuing story line and tie things together over the course of the series.Joe Dominguez (Cheech Marin) who is Nash's partner also has his own family issues and ads a comical side to life in dealing with his need for money schemes, a wife from Sweden who launches into tirades of Swedish when she's upset, a son whose job is to pick mushrooms for a living, an older mother-in-law who only speaks Swedish and is a "pot-head", all add another dimension and fills the series with life. There are comments from "Joe" that are hysterical and can only be delivered by Marin. ("It sounded like she said 'You can't drive a fish through a vacuum, unplugged.'")The whole series and the plethora of action makes you feel like you're on a really fun carnival ride full of bright colors and constant action. Instead of giving you a headache, it just makes you feel good.I'm looking forward to the entire series coming out on DVD.
