I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible

Clever and entertaining enough to recommend even to members of the 1%

a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

What a dumb concept. Honestly the first two episodes had me hooked. The show was setup really well but then basically turned into a far too slow plot. Almost the entire show is spent in flashbacks and way too much screen time is given to boring useless scenes were 5 characters are stuck in a basement. The mom character is unwatchable too. Honestly most shows start slow and get better. This started great and got slower and worse and worse. Kind of a waste of time. Later in the plot these random things called "movements pop up" and I just burst out laughing cuz it's so dumb looking. I can't beleive people took it serieously when writing the show.

I was surprised to see some of the reviews, but not everybody enjoys the same cup of tea. I loved the writing, the pace, the intrigue. It's definitely not your usual drama because it lacks frivolous bells and whistles. It plays more like a book and not everyone will be able to connect with the storytelling. It's definitely Sci-Fi forward, but don't let that dissuade you. Stick with with it and you'll be surprised.

As a new contributor, many of my reviews had been based on stock memory. This show is a disguise of heavenly complications and always glad to find established actors trying and experimenting something extraordinary, as well new actors whom you've seen in supporting or as a cast member in a movie role to find their avenue and showcase their ability. At the end of each episode, you're eagerly anticipating the next wondering what will happen and you start playing scenarios in your mind, well I guarantee that you won't be able to do this with the OA. Not everything is clear , some motivations are vaguely implied but then what in life is ? There are no instruction manuals that comes with us when we're born, are we the Omega or the Alpha ?

Like most people who have watched this, I'll say this show isn't for everyone, but if you are into great storytelling, excellent acting performances and a truly imaginative and thought-provoking story, this is top of the line. Like another reviewer said, it's best to go into this show without any expectations and to simply let the story take you on a whimsical and heart-wrenching journey. I was drawn to the show by the lead actress, Brit Marling, whose acting captivated me years ago on the film Another Earth. Once again, she did not disappoint and neither did the rest of the cast. What I love most is how this show took your everyday-run-of-the-mill-next-door characters who would never cross each other's paths in real life and banded them together on this journey that no one could explain or understand unless they, too, were a part of it. Even better is discovering why they were chosen, but it's not as obvious as you'd hope. Instead, you'd have to rely on your intuition and capacity to study and understand the human condition. Finally, most critics of this show very much dislike the ending and I'll admit, I was also disappointed at first. It was jarring and appeared to be unrelated to anything the show would have been building up to. However, I challenge everyone to give it a second look. I had actually binged this show initially, I was too enthralled and time flew by, it felt like a longer than average movie. Recently and about 9 months after watching it the first time, I re-watched over several weeks, giving me space and time to think about it more and piece minor details together I had missed the first time around -- turns out they weren't so minor. Suddenly the ending made perfect sense -- in fact, it was brilliant. I can't wait for season 2!
