While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

I love the last ship this is based on some of the life challenges that navy, army and Air Force have to go through. I also love the couple Kara and Danny played as marissa neitling and Travis van winkle I think they would make a great couple in real life. There is realistic dead bodies shown so not for young ones. I love season one and two and waiting for season five now exited for that to come out

Everyone else has covered the good and bad points of the show, but I'm not sure if anyone else has pointed out that the President dude technically murdered his own daughters, admitted this to the Captain, and the Captain just got teary eyed and said he wouldn't tell anyone. Actually, there's no "technically" to it - he did murder them. It was his wife who asked him to put them out of their misery - the girls themselves didn't ask him. They had no say in whether they got smothered to death or not. However, when Dr. Scott did her gene-slicing thing on Nils (whose shoddy science had resulted in the deaths of billions, and who had purposely infected and killed any number of people) and kills him in the process, the Captain declares that she's now basically under house arrest and he'll turn her over to the authorities so she can pay for her crime. They get in an argument about not getting to pick the rules they have to follow. Is there a glaring double standard here or what? As far as I'm aware, suffocating your daughters is against the law even if you think you're doing it to ease their suffering. And at another point, the President himself reminds some hoodlums about how Americans punish child-killers severely, and was apparently unaware of the irony.

I starting watching this in the last couple of weeks. Never saw any of the earlier seasons, and in fact, never heard of the series until I saw a promo during the summer. It is a decent escape, and is well enough done that I will keep on watching it, and may go back and watch the earlier seasons. My big complaint is that it really isn't that good, and is kind of a rip off of some earlier cable shows (Strike Back comes to mind). It seems to be the best available programming, which is more a state of television production these days than an endorsement of this particular show. It isn't a ten star show. The plot is predictable, the acting sketchy, and some of the action sequences poorly done. That said, it's all we have in this dismal summer for television.UPDATE: I think I've pinned down my issues with this and similar series. This is a great story that can be told in 2 1/2 or 3 hours. Like most. But to cover 8 or 10 weeks, the directors have to add so much content that does nothing but slow the story down. It makes the entire production tedious. That's why I've given p on many of these series, like Stranger Things. Sorry, Iv'e got more to do with my time than watch a short story stretched out over 10 episodes.

I must have been hiding under a rock to have only just discovered this series, just brilliant! Some reviewers have taken it toooo seriously, I have watched all 4 series in 2 weeks, cant get enough, now I'm sad to be on the last episode. I'm sure some of the stuff on the ship arnt accurate buy to me it seems real enough. Its a shame there arnt more series out there like this. If you hav'nt seen it, watch it
