It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.

One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.

Everyone else has covered the good and bad points of the show, but I'm not sure if anyone else has pointed out that the President dude technically murdered his own daughters, admitted this to the Captain, and the Captain just got teary eyed and said he wouldn't tell anyone. Actually, there's no "technically" to it - he did murder them. It was his wife who asked him to put them out of their misery - the girls themselves didn't ask him. They had no say in whether they got smothered to death or not. However, when Dr. Scott did her gene-slicing thing on Nils (whose shoddy science had resulted in the deaths of billions, and who had purposely infected and killed any number of people) and kills him in the process, the Captain declares that she's now basically under house arrest and he'll turn her over to the authorities so she can pay for her crime. They get in an argument about not getting to pick the rules they have to follow. Is there a glaring double standard here or what? As far as I'm aware, suffocating your daughters is against the law even if you think you're doing it to ease their suffering. And at another point, the President himself reminds some hoodlums about how Americans punish child-killers severely, and was apparently unaware of the irony.

That's it, in the beginning I had a hard time believing in the plot's and turnarounds of the show. But I kept watching as I really love naval combats and ships. And as the show went on, it started to feel like you were reading a good set of books. So this would be my advice for new viewers, you will have the tendency some times to take the plots too seriously, and they're very good as it appears that real Navy personnel helped a lot on that. But bear with a few flaws and enjoy the action, the good actors and all the fun.

Great series. Shows the potential of the human condition on both sides of the spectrum. Good and bad. Reminds us of how our leaders can betray the public trust or defend it. Chandler and crew represent the best we have to offer. Most of the "villains" are simply out for profit or power. I sort of equate the villains trying to keep the cure to themselves as the pharmaceutical industry of today.

Captain and crew are taken through the journey of saving the world using the last ship available in the us fleet. Issues....1...Somehow other countries have multiple ships available but the U.S has only one.I kinda thought we would have allies of some kind.......2...Multiple scenarios of stupidity on the captain and crew letting the bad guy get away or something requiring the highest security to protect the only thing that can save the world....and they put it in a low security lock box... and have no guards posted on it....Come on man at least give our military and viewers little more credit!!!
