Excellent but underrated film

... View MoreI like this show and it is strictly a comedy cop show and is even more of a comedy cop show than Lethal Weapon. It come nowhere close to reality and Jim Longworth would never pass as a cop or make it as a cop. Most of the episodes have fairly good plots. I do not know why they call it the Glades though because the majority of the episodes if not all of them happen nowhere near the Florida Everglades. The last episode when it was on Netflix & it looks like browsing ahead on Hulu it is the same shows Jim Longworth getting shot multiple times just before his wedding when he was to marry Callie and that is how the last episode ended. Will somebody please tell me whether or not that is how the whole show ended because if so that is a terrible ending to a television show????????
... View MoreI saw this series for the score on this page (7,5) and for the good reviews... but it was a complete waste of my time. Do not misunderstand me: if you are looking for a series to put in the background and do other things, it is perfect. But do not be fooled, it is not good at all. The acting is horrible, the main character is very poorly developed, and the argument is exactly the same in every episode. BORED.
... View MoreI stopped watching CSI: Miami when eventually I couldn't put up with David Caruso's underacting anymore. I can't watch reruns of the first two seasons of NCIS because Sasha Alexander's character is dead, shot through the forehead in such a gruesome manner. I like her on Rizzoli & Isles, though, but there I have to put up with Brenda Vaccaro. I enjoyed The Finder - no enervating actors - but it lasted only one season. And there's The Glades. I don't know why I keep watching it. Matt Passmore plays such a smug, unlikeable character. In real life I wouldn't give him the time of day. I guess he grows on you, and you get to accept him and almost sympathize with him. Unlike CSI or NCIS, The Glades is light- hearted and fun (like The Finder was). There are no car chases, no shootouts or prolonged fights, and what with this "idiot" protagonist it's all tongue-in-cheek. I don't care about the product placement. It's entertaining; there are no social or moral messages, you're not required to think - just watch and enjoy. But there is one thing that annoys me: Jim's relationship with Callie. Why does he put up with her? She has a great body, apart from her being short and having a hump and not exactly fine facial features. (Am I talking about the actress here? Kiele Sanchez mumbles instead of talking normally, and she has an enervating voice.) Callie can't quit her no-good husband, and yet she's jealous of Jim's Chicago colleague Jennifer working with him. Her son likes Jim but prefers his father. Jennifer going back home wasn't much of a disappointment either, for that matter. As I've said, there's no reason to watch this series. But it's entertaining. There should be more of these - without Kiele Sanchez.
... View MoreThis is a very entertaining show and definitely worth watching. It sort of has a "The Mentalist" vibe due to the lead character. They are both charismatic rule breakers with a past. It is a different show but just as entertaining. My one problem is that the show has slightly gotten stale after a few seasons. Not so bad that it's an issue but it is a shame that it couldn't continue it's momentum. If your thinking "great another cop show" well give it a chance as there is more to The Glades then you might think. Best thing is they finished the show before it was too late.
