What makes it different from others?

... View MoreI gave this film a 9 out of 10, because it was exactly what I expected it to be.
... View MoreJust intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?
... View MoreI was a lot younger when this was on, but I remember that I loved it at the time. The way that people's heads would explode, or a body part would get ripped off with lots of very fake-looking blood... I loved it. They did it without being morbid or excessively gory, it was just goofy and funny. The show was high-energy. I remember a skit about women's deodorant they did that still makes me laugh. Perhaps today, I would find it more predictable and juvenile, but I remember liking the over-the-top acting style that most of the cast had, playing skits with a lot of manic energy. As Forest Gump would say, that's all I have to say about that.
... View MoreThis started out as a good sketch comedy. The first few shows were very good and I was looking forward to a long run. What was really funny was the Mariah Carey imitation and the take off on Beverly Hills 90210 featuring the hair fight. The Delta Burke vs William Conrad heavy weight battle was also good. Unfortunately the following shows went downhill relatively quickly. The writing became uninspired and oh so predictable as if the show had acquired a cult following in it's young tenure. Nothing fresh was being offered and the recurring skits were boring. One example is the gun family (or whatever it was called) which became a weekly feature. This sketch was not all that funny to begin with let alone being a regular feature. An example of a quick promising start then a sudden fall.
... View MoreAfter Fox declined on furthering "Get a Life," David Merkin's next step towards his run on "The Simpsons" was this little show that had a 9:30 timeslot on Sunday Nights but yet was neglected until it died. Somehow, it lasted a full season but that was a miracle itself."The Edge" was a sketch show featuring a great deal of comic talent and ruled with it's non sequiturs and macabre humor. The bowling bag/severed head skit still remains with me to this day, along with "What is Casper the Friendly Boy doing now".But, the cancellation has a happy ending. Merkin went on to do "The Simpsons" during it's classic years and Wayne Knight went to other, better-paying things.
... View More"The Edge" was by far one of the best primetime comedies ever to be shown. In the spirit of "In Living Color" skits, "Saturday Night Live," and today's "MAD TV," The Edge included raunchy yet smart comic skits such as "The Armed Family," and other greats. It was a great show which unfortunately will never be seen again.
