... View MoreI am absolutely gutted that Mistresses TV show is no longer airing. I am in Australia and they are airing season 2 now. Unfortunately, if we didn't pay for pay TV, we miss out on a lot of British TV, however with more free channels coming, they put "Mistresses" on and I absolutely love it after watching one episode. I loved it so much that I have purchased the entire series of 3 Seasons (which is only 16 episodes) by the way. What! How can BBC ditch the show?? Shame! Shame! So so sad. Please bring it back. :-( I finally find a good show to watch that is not another cops and robbers or some silly, comedy show where the story lines are all the same but just different actors. "Mistresses" rocks!!
... View MoreThis is a chick's only TV series. Many women will love it, most men will hate it. It's a soap, that pretends not to be, about 4 friends who have various "shagging" relationships. They get together and giggle about their different slants on men and sex. Occasionally they call each other out on the goings on, but their nails remain mostly sheathed. One of them is a Doctor who had an affair with a dying patient and then helped off him (mercy killing), As if this high breach of ethics isn't enough she then takes on his son when he comes around mewling about needing to find his father's mistress. She sees him as a patient, even though she's a G.P. and he has no medical issues other than his mewling, and we all know where it's going to end up, and break up, and make up.One is a Business woman who is desperately trying to have a child with her even more desperate husband. When his desperation gets too clinical, she shags an office co-worker, regrets it, then when her husband discovers he's sterile and naturally goes into depressed mode, she goes back to her co-worker "for some shagging comfort" and of course gets pregnant, as we all knew she would. Poor thing is torn between her pity for her "nice" husband and her sexy lover. Then there is the gorgeous wedding planner who is shagging her boss and decides to shag the Lesbian bride to be on wedding eve. I am not making this up! Then she mewls about not being sure if she's AC or DC.The last woman, a widow, has the most morally straight compass of the 4, but gets side tracked from her interest in a new man by the arrival of dead hubbie's mistress (and tot). Oh did I mention that he died on 9/11 and she just got a check for a million.Anyway, the wife loves it and I've been banned to either silence from growling while watching or coming and typing this.
... View MoreThis drama is unlike Sex and the City, where the women have a few drinks and share their sexual encounters with each other. Its much more personal and people can relate to it. Its much more engaging and emotional on a new level than other dramas focusing on women and their lives like "Sex and the City, Lipstick Jungle...." Dr. Katie Roden, is a psychologist with a dark secret, she seems much more depressed and guilt ridden than the rest of her 3 friends. She is dealing with the death of her former lover who was her patient while tackling his son's advances on her. Her sombre clothes and empty and cold house convey her inside emotions very well. Trudi Malloy, a widow is battling issues with "letting go" of her dead husband from 9/11. And when a handsome stranger, Richard shows an interest in her she is suddenly forced to do a reality check by her friends who suggest that she gets back into dating business. The ridiculous and embarrassing courting scenes between Richard and Trudi are totally funny! It is interesting to note that Richard asks her out the day she gets a millions from the 9/11 board for her husband's death..lets see what his intentions are Siobhan Dillon, a lawyer is fed up of her husband's love making tactics which only involve "baby making" (as they are having trouble conceiving) and she quickly falls for her colleague who offer his "services" a little too willingly to her and she does not hesitate for long!It will interesting to see whether she will continue her affair or patch up with her husband (played by Raza Jeffrey) Jessica, a real estate business woman is single and is straight, until she organizes a lesbian wedding and has an affair with one of them. Her character is shown as a bold and provocative woman who before her lesbian encounter is having sex with a "married man", her colleague. Lets see where her character venture to....The beauty of this drama is that we are shown 4 totally different women with different scenarios, whose ambitions and inhibitions are shown. Its also a good thing that the drama reveals the fact that sometimes friends lie to each other to be "safe"!
... View MoreWhen I first read the plot of this drama i assumed it was going to be like Sex and the City, however this drama is nothing like it. The stories the characters seem more real and you empathise with the situations more. The concept of the drama is similar, four 30 something women guide us through there friendships and relationships with problems and strife along the way. Katie the GP is a dark and brooding character who you find difficult to relate too and is best friends with Trudi a widow. Trudi's character is heart warming as you can relate to difficulties she is having along with the fact she is the only mother of the four. Jessica is the party girl very single minded and knows what she wants and how to get it. She is a likable character and is closest to Siobhan the newly wed who whilst loving her husband completely can't help her eyes wandering to her work colleague. Over all the drama is surprisingly addictive and if the BBC continue to produce the series it could do well. It is unlike other female cast dramas such as Sex and the city, or Desperate Housewives. This if played right could be the next Cold feet. Plus the male cast are not bad on the eyes too.
