Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.

Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.

Although they're meant for very different audiences, it's hard not to compare Flight 29 Down to Lost: both shows were filmed on the island of Oahu, both have characters with similar traits (for example, F29D's Taylor bears quite a bit of a resemblance to Lost's resident spoiled brat Shannon and Lex shares some of the qualities belonging to Lost's Locke and Sayid) and the general premise of each show is similar (people surviving a plane crash on a tropical island). With all of these similarities, there has been lots of discussion on whether or not F29D is a Lost rip-off and the fact that F29D began to air fairly soon after Lost (about 13 months later), certainly lends even more proof to back up this claim. Perhaps the creator of F29 D wanted to ride on the coattails of one of the biggest TV shows on the air? Having said all of that, F29D is a fairly enjoyable show for anyone who's into Disney and Nickelodeon shows like Hannah Montana, That's So Raven and Zoey 101. There's a fairly nice mix of action and comedy and the teen drama isn't too dark. I prefer the real Lost to this Disney-ized version, but for the kids and pre-teens, there should be enough here to keep them entertained until they're ready to graduate to the adult version.

First off, I'd just like to say that these kids are extremely lucky. They survived the crash (without serious injuries, might I add), haven't gotten ill, have tents and camping supplies, and a ten-year-old (?) genius with them. Besides all that, the show really isn't so bad. Its similarities to ABC's Lost can be overlooked, and though some of the actors are weaker than others, the rest show talent. The actress cast as Taylor (Lauren Storm) can be *extremely* annoying, (not to mention incredible thick-headed. Like in the episode with the camera battery. Urg, didn't everyone just want to scream at her?!) but she can also be a bit humorous, and lighten the mood. Jackson (Johnny Pacar)is such a great character, and his acting isn't bad at all. Then there's Daley (Hallee Hirsh), who's very good in her role, and couldn't have been cast better. Nathan (Corbin Bleu. He is popping up EVERYWHERE!!!) can be bothersome, and I have to admit that often I wish he wasn't around. I don't think he adds much to the show.I don't like the editing in this show. Like when we found that Abby girl. Why did they keep flashing pictures of her hand? I found that a bit odd. It's not like her face was cut up or anything, and it wasn't suspenseful - just annoying. Overall, this show isn't wonderful, but certainly hasn't been ranked among such disasters as "Unfabulous" and "The Suite Life of Zach and Cody".

I love this show it is SO great. people say its a cheap cut off of LOST but we all know its not. I love this show! Every that says it is coping off of LOST ha not around for a while. First what about Gilligan's island , survivors, the real Gilligan's island (the remake of the older version) and a-zillion others but no one pays attention to that. DO THEY? Anyway i like the video diaries heres way : 1)iget a close up of Corbin Bleu's face(aka Nathan) 2)It show how the character really feel. Some think that kids my age don't like the show i do because i seriously think that if me and 9 of my other classmates were strand on an island we'ed act the same way!

i really think that the two shows(flight 29 down and lost) are a LOT alike, especially with their choices of characters....Nathan-i really find him as a kind of Michael, he tries to be helpful and he's really smart...but like Michael, he sometimes lacks the "instinctive" qualities...he also sometimes tries to help, but turns out as a burden to the rest of his castaways Daley-she's kind of like Kate or Jack, she is definitely the wannabee leader, and she has that same kind of snooty, know-it-all attitude Jack sometimes has Lex-ithink he's either a Walt or Sayid...like Walt and Sayid, he often finds himself being misunderstood by others and like Walt, he often gets brushed aside Taylor-an obvious Shannon, the same preppy girl qualityis found in both of them Melissa-an obvious Sun, though Sun is MUCH more mature than Melissa Jackson-i think he's a good Charlie...he's the kind of person you would see sitting in a corner with their hood pulled over their head...also, Jackson-like Charlie-is the "go between" among the survivors, they both often break up fights that are about to happenEric-i have to admit, Eric is my favorite character on the show...probably because he reminds me so much of Sawyer...they both are jokesters and pranksters, they both have a kind of charm with the ladies, and they both have had a near-death experience
