The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

The moment which I started watching Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog I didn't know what to expect, but right from the start with Dr. Horrible's introduction and the first song "My Freeze Ray", I knew that this short film would have something unique. With such a pleasant story and characters who create a link with audience very quickly as they're so amusing and funny, along with charming musical videos during the entire movie, it's very hard to not like the show. Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Horrible is fantastic, his character easily gains the public's sympathy even though he's the villain. Captain Hammer is played by Nathan Fillion, he's the nemesis of Dr. Horrible, the hero of the story, but who has ideals not so heroics. Felicia Day plays Penny, an innocent girl, who in somehow will be part of the world of these two men. Beneath Dr. Horrible's costume, there's a guy madly in love that when his passion is near he turns out to be very shy and clumsy, despite being a villain, it's hard to not root for him. Captain Hammer is the so- called hero, from the outside he might be, but from inside he's selfish, arrogant. This exchange of personalities between hero and villain was so interesting as we're so used to the opposite.

I hunted this gem missing firefly and wanting to see at least Nathan Fillion do a male display again. So I checked his list of stuff (thank you IMDb!) and came across this adorable gem.To be honest, at first I thought something mean like: Oh no... barf... some damn Broadway influence making people sing their head off, like in Disney, I just forward it sometimes or bang my head and put a nice anime where people just scream in pain bleeding instead to sing opera, which is only good for showers... and this gem.I played it and the music on repeat for the longest time, and it's in my nearby favorite of all times collection. It's just pure genius... I get shivers...I love mad scientists, sarcasm, superheroes... twists that just rip your mind out, and stuff making you go "wha... what IS THIS!!! (the ultimate villain!!!!) I like surprises... I'm very random, so I'm so glad when someone can beat me.Everybody is cute... well, mostly... But Neil Patrick Harris it utterly adorable, I haven't seen him in ages... I was so happy to see him again, he can sing my own head off if he wants to. I was actually happy to hear them sing.Well, this isn't a proper descriptive review, so don't raise your hopes up (to avoid raising them too high), and just enjoy this gem.I'm moved that it was meant to be with losing money in mind, and doing it for free... everyone gave all their fun and everything they had, out of sheer joy for the sake of doing it... Not just getting some paycheck... That explains the shine of this gem.IT'S A FREAKING GEM I TELL YOU!!! (I apologize for shooting, it's meant with love, I'm just out of words to express my admiration.) Thank you for making this. All the dark humor, so damn politically incorrect... ah the gem! I don't want to spoil anything... but thank you for twisting my heart and throwing it in my face.I liked it~ <3<3<3

At first hearing the title, Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog, I was a little skeptical. It seemed like it was going to be a second rate children's musical. As soon as it opens with Dr. Horrible, played by Neil Patrick Harris, practicing his evil laugh, funny to say the least, I was immediately proved wrong. After the first few seconds I was enlightened to see Neil Patrick Harris cracking jokes as he read emails sent to him about his video blog and acting as a "horrible" doctor of evil. As the film continued I was overjoyed to see funny musical numbers sung by Dr. Horrible. In the first upbeat musical number we find that he is love with a girl, Penny, played by Felicia day. The song was sung in a surprisingly light and bouncy tone. One might think that a musical number sung by someone named Dr. Horrible, a super villain, would be dark and sinister but this movie is refreshingly contradictory in that way. As such it doesn't take long to figure out that the protagonist of this movie is actually the villain, Dr. Horrible who is trying to get into the Evil League of Evil. That means that the antagonist must be a super hero. Yes, that is right Captain Hammer, Dr. Horrible's arch nemesis played by Nathan Fillion, is the antagonist. Upon his entrance to the movie you can tell by his demeanor and the way he sings his part in the musical number that he is a womanizing, arrogant, self-absorbed super hero who, in this is movie, is actually the bad guy. His main purpose is to stop Dr. Horrible from achieving his evil goals and to keep him from getting the girl of his dreams, Penny. Penny is a sweet philanthropic girl who wants to help the homeless and no surprise Dr. Horrible is in love with her. His arch nemesis Captain Hammer rescues her and pursues her giving Dr. Horrible one more reason to want to destroy him.The ending is not as perfect as one might hope and it almost leaves something to be desired but it has a strong yet subtle message that everything comes at a cost. There are subtle messages strategically placed throughout the movie making it fun to watch over and over again because every time you watch it you find something new that you hadn't seen previously. If you add the hidden messages and girl drama to a superhero-villain dynamic plus a catchy musical score you have a show that is funny, refreshing and well worth watching. This show is a perfect example of why you should never judge a book by its cover or, in this case, a movie by its title.

"Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" created by Joss Whedon is an action- packed musical with lots of humor. The main character, "Dr. Horrible" is a super villain who acts like a normal person but has a plan to "rule the world" with Penny, a woman he loves at the local laundromat. He plans to do this by freezing time with his freeze ray. And his other goal as a villain is to join The Evil League of Evil led by their infamous leader "Bad Horse." His arch nemesis named Captain Hammer is the only true threat in completing his crime in order to join the Evil League of Evil. Dr. Horrible's dilemma is that he loves Penny and wants to join the Evil League of Evil at the same time. When he makes an attempt to rob the delivery van with "Wonderflonium" in it for his freeze ray, Penny unexpectedly asks him to sign a petition to help the homeless. The act of Horrible doing something evil like robbing a van grabbed my attention and made me want to know what happens next. When people help the homeless like Penny does, it makes you care for them. I enjoyed the scene where Horrible tries to commit a crime. The acting of being evil was done well. I also found Horrible's blogs to be hilarious. The name "Wonderflonium" is silly and comical. Back at his lair, The Evil League of Evil calls Horrible and tells him that the only way he can join is to kill someone. At the laundromat, Billy asks Penny some questions, and she tells him that she is dating his nemesis Hammer. Then Penny introduces her boyfriend to Horrible. Hammer teases Horrible about not getting Penny. I found it funny when Hammer acts like Horrible is not a big threat to him and beats him up. Compared to the Sound of Music musical, I found this musical to be more entertaining. I think this musical is better than the Sound of Music because it not as serious. This movie was full of action and comedy. The acting was good because they made the stunts seem real especially in the scene where Horrible gets beat up by Hammer. Also, the characters make you want to care for them like Penny. And a twist on the usual good guy versus bad guy movie, I wanted to root for the bad guy. Dr. Horrible says that he has "A PhD in Horribleness!" Who wouldn't want their catchphrase to be like that? This movie is really enjoyable to watch and I would highly recommend this to all of my friends.
