This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

Wild in the country was the third and last try for Elvis to became a real serious actor, after King Creole and Flaming Star. There is no singing there, only one or two songs and the story isn't for family entertaining as in the typical Elvis movies. Elvis as Glenn Tyler is an outsider young guy, with troubles with the law.The rest of the story is extreme for it's time(single moms, alcoholism e.g.) and although the movie was Great,it was a market failure,as King Creole and Flaming Star also was, probably because people needed to watch a feel-good movie with Elvis and not s/th heavy and dark.Although Presley demonstrated that he was an Excellent actor, never tried to play drama again. His next movie,a typical musical, called Blue Hawaii stayed in the top of box-office for 18 weeks, who can blame him?

"A troubled young man discovers that he has a knack for writing when a counselor encourages him to pursue a literary career." Do me a favour: Do not think of this movie as any other Elvis flick, because this is one of the best classic films I've seen. Well, he sings a couple songs to his lovers and he gets into a couple of fights, but here it just doesn't happen randomly. The plot is excellent and Elvis blew me away with his acting. There's one specific scene where he's sharing stories about his dead mother with Hope Lange and it almost brought me to tears. His acting was very natural, as was Hope Lange's, Tuesday Weld's and Millie Perkins'. This is a fantastic movie and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

This is yet another great Elvis movie. It's great to see how a young kid who is dealt a very bad hand in life, with an abusive father and brother, with the death of his mother as a child and being guilty until proven innocent by the town comes out on top. It has good songs, but is not a musical. Again another great plot with a strong supporting cast, with Tuesday Weld and Gary Lockwood to name a few. I give this movie 4 and a half stars.

I've seen this movie 10 times and read the book "The Lost Country" which is what the movie based upon. In the book, character Glenn Tyler is a student and Irene Sperry is a teacher. They later fall in love. The book was written by J.R. Salamanca about the childhood of a country boy and his struggles to become successful. I've created a website with full comprehensive review. You can email me for the web site. I suggest this movie and book to everyone. Actress Hope Lange was great. She bought the character of Irene Sperry alive on screen.
