Waiting in the Wings: The Musical Trailers

Two entertainers destined for the big time are mismatched in a casting office from two very different online contests. Tony, a stripper from New York, is cast in an Off-Broadway musical and needs to trade in his tear-away trunks for tap shoes and tights. Anthony, a naive musical theatre enthusiast from Montana, needs to decide if he can strip all the way down just to stay in town. Hilarity ensues as they realize that "to make it" they're gonna have to learn some new tricks.

I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

I was looking for something different. I found it! Ya I did the groan at "a gay musical". This was a surprise . I'll be frank in my family I am the one talent missed. I do appreciate it when I see it and this is pure talent on display. With cameo's by Christopher Atkins, Lee Meriwether and Shirley Jones, the diva of musicals. It was GAY camp at its best and had a flow that didn't leave you bored. As I said too there was quite a bit of eye candy. Centering around Blake Peyrot and a chorus of "male strippers" he almost got lost in. Almost! If you want something light and fun with a "Happy" conclusion. Here ya go!

LOW budget musical comedy drama. The film stars Jeffrey A. Johns as Anthony. He's a GWM musical geek. The other lead is hunky Adam Huss as Tony a male stripper. Through some seriously convoluted plotting Anthony gets hired to join a male strip show and Tony gets in a no-budget musical. Some hilarity ensures. This really isn't that good of a movie. The basic plot is highly unlikely and the low budget shows. The songs were pleasant but unmemorable and the dancing was a little...ummmm...off. Still I must admit I enjoyed watching it. The cast was rearing to go and full of energy. I admit I laughed more than once and it left me feeling good. The acting was good all around and hunky Huss and gorgeous Blake Peyrot were easy on the eyes. It also has Lee Meriwether in a small role and she looks great and is wonderful. Christopher Atkins and Sally Struthers also have cameos. Best of all is Shirley Jones playing herself popping up at the end. She's hysterical and can still sing. This was a big hit at film festivals and a sequel has already been filmed. So a lot of people love it but I can only marginally recommend it.

What a breath of fresh air in the form of musical theatre joy! This is truly a film that will make everyone smile, laugh, and sing along! I loved the cast - what a great smattering of fun familiar faces! I love the music - new songs with catchy melodies. This film has heart, intelligence, and wit and I will keep it in the list of films that make me happy to watch again and again. Rena Strober is a diva force to be reckoned with that has a voice like butter and all the saucy with that a diva like her should have! Jeffrey Johns is absolutely adorable and believable throughout the film - you want to cheer for him forever! If you love musical theatre, you love dancing, you love divas, you love scantily clad men, or you love a heartfelt and joyous time, definitely watch this film!

Want a lot of fun? Love the theater? Also, love the movies? This is one for the books. Pure fun and zaniness that is bound to leave you laughing and singing along. Sit back and allow yourself to be embraced by the story, song and dance. You're sure to come out of the theater chuckling and knowing you had a good time. Waiting in the Wings is all about the fun! Several cameos from names you'll recognize. It's just plain silly and you will feel like you are watching a live stage show as much as anything even though it is a film. It plays up on how crazy things can get when they get mixed up. A hiccup here and hiccup there that leaves you laughing. Waiting in the Wings proves that laughter really is the best medicine!
