It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

The plot is too simple, and they talk too much for a stripper movie...

The first "Magic Mike" was a well disguised drama involving male strippers, "Magic Mike XXL" is just a straight-forward comedy about male strippers. Now the question is, "Is that a bad thing?". I'd say no. I didn't like it as much as the first one, but for a comedy sequel I'd say it's done pretty well. A lot of the cast returns, the story's more simplistic, and it's all about having a good time. It's not a soulless sequel only made to get money like "The Force Awakens" or something along those lines, it knows what it wants to be and it goes for it. That being said, there were some things I didn't like about the movie. One, Amber Heard, I know Cody Horn wasn't in the movie because reasons, but Heard's whole character just seems shoehorned into the movie. She's snarky, forgettable, and really only serves as a love interest for Channing Tatum. The funny thing is though, they don't get together at the end of the film, so it's like her being in this movie is completely pointless. Another thing I didn't like was Andie MacDowell (Nancy) and her group of like five friends. The group I've dubbed "Nancy & Co." also serve no purpose to the movie. The only reason they're in the movie is because the guys need a car, which could have been handled in like a third of the time. But instead, there's this really random stop to the movies momentum, as Nancy & Co. start discussing how they're unsatisfied with their lives/husbands. I'm sorry, did this just turn into an episode of "Desperate Housewives"? I guess the only real reason Nancy's in the movie is so she can have sex with Richie who's biggest problem is that no woman wants to have sex with him because his penis is "too big". Oh the humanity! If the biggest problem in your whole life is that your penis is "too big" I'd say you're doin' alright. If you want a movie that cleverly mixes comedy with drama, watch the first one. If you want a straight-forward comedy, watch this one. The movie's not bad, I had fun with it, but I'd rather watch the first one over this any day.

I have seen the first part and I don't remember I felt the same way as I did for this. My point is, this film is for women and maybe that including the gays. Being a straight male, I find it's not fun or entertaining, but I felt it pulled me further away as the movie progressed without balancing the content as a product for everyone.I know, no one asked my opinion. I respect the movie, at least it aimed for a certain section of the audiences. The road trip was fine to me, except the music and the dance parts. Thankfully, there's no nudity, except once, but still an R rated movie for strong sexual appeal.Whatever the theme was about, I expected a good story. But it was a lot like a documentary. No focus on any particular characters, but Channing Tatum was in a prime position. No development either in the story other than a group that embark a road trip to participate in a competition. Nothing anything like the first film, kind of detached from afar.So I won't expect you to feel as the way I did on this, but you could consider my points and can judge whether want to watch it. Still, I'm not suggesting to boycott the film. I'm neutral, and all I'm saying is that it did not impress me, but it might you, especially if you are a woman.4/10

OK so I liked the first magic mike mainly just for the dancing, as not the best story. So all the advertising for this near when it was due out wanted to see it & didn't get round to it, then hearing amber beards in it just lately I decided to get it out as I find her fascinating , I thought I would be in for sexy stuff between her & Tatum, & he'd have amazing moves again this time round.. How wrong this film is BORING you hardly see Heard & Mike & the boys just seem to stroll from one pointless nothing scene to the next & I was left wondering why & what they had gone to different places.. The dance scenes at some houseof male strippers was lame, watching a man try to throw a obese woman in the air was cringe worthy. Their was nothing in any of the dances including mikes that was sexy.. There's 20minutes of the film left to go maybe it will have a OK ending but I won't hold my breath over this dreary cack
