A group of people awaken to find themselves prisoners in a mysterious house with no means of escape. They are each outfitted with electronic devices attached to the base of their skulls. The chemicals that the brain produces when in pain are collected by the devices, and when it collects a predetermined amount, the doors will be opened. In order to escape, they must hurt themselves and each other.

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

With a threadbare and straightforward plot, if done right it could have worked. The premise of the kidnapping gives could have given a nice place to begin, but the writing took the plot nowhere. Just the simple "torture each other and you'll get out" for the rest of the plot doesn't give anything to work with. The characters are not developed other than who are intended to be the loudest and bossiest and are all poorly acted. There was far too much time spent on the most annoying character just bitching, screaming and making excuses. About the only thrill I got from the movie was when she was knocked out by a punch and getting her just rewards.

Now that the Torture Porn genre has fizzled out at the box office, these films are fortunately going straight to video where they belong. This one has an absurd plot (torturing people to obtain a body chemical that is also released during sex - that might have been an interesting film and certainly more humane!), unsympathetic characters and terrible dialogue. At least a good half hour of the characters screaming at each other goes by before they start beating each other's brains in. I only watched it because it was on Netflix Streaming, where a lot of terrible, direct-to-video horror movies go to die. Only if you really miss the Saw films will you possibly find something to enjoy in this mess.

So I almost turned it off when the girls decided to break a plate and cut a finger to write numbers in blood of whom would go 1st, 2nd...etc. Really? No better way to decide turns? Draw straws perhaps? In the very same scene there was a dish strainer whose plastic construction almost resembled straws and the group obviously had tools to cut things. It's almost as if that was put in the scene to say, "see how purposely stupid this movie is?" That being said, I continued to watch if for no other reason than to see how it turned out. I can't say I was 100% dissatisfied with it, hence the "2" rating, however, I also can't say I wouldn't pull out a fingernail if forced to watch it again! :-)

The acting was not very good and parts of the interactions between the victims was a bit forced and unrealistic...but, I did keep my attention throughout. As far as realism, the actors didn't convey as much pain as they actually would have felt. If you have a fingernail ripped out like that, you are going to be writhing on the floor for a long time and the throbbing from your finger would render that hand useless and would render you unable to be able to focus on anything until the gruesome pain subsided. Which would take a long time. Most of them had multiple fingernails ripped out. Also, when the one guy has the pot of boiling water poured over his lower half...he would have been unable to do anything more...yet we see him in the next scene without any discernible evidence of pain. In fact, we see him walking around like nothing has happened to him. The realism needs a lot of work.
