A group of people awaken to find themselves prisoners in a mysterious house with no means of escape. They are each outfitted with electronic devices attached to the base of their skulls. The chemicals that the brain produces when in pain are collected by the devices, and when it collects a predetermined amount, the doors will be opened. In order to escape, they must hurt themselves and each other.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.

I've watched a lot of horror movies in my life and Vile is by far one of my favorites. To be honest, the only downside to this movie is that the acting is a little bit mediocre. But aside from that, the characters are well-developed, original, and come from a diverse cast with refreshingly, no racial stereotyping. The reveal of Sam and the death of Tayler at the end is a twist I did not see coming and I'm usually pretty good at figuring out movie endings. The way some of the scenes are shot, the best way to describe it is "poetic." It's artistic and surprisingly gentle for what is essentially a torture porn horror film. As much as I love my Saw movies, Vile takes the cake. I hope that there is a sequel someday. I wonder what Nick did to the cougar woman, or if he became a part of the drug industry that was doing this to them. A sequel would be amazing.

The actors did a great job....which saved this movie from being a total waste.. I rated it so low...because I was excited to get to see Maynard James Keenan as an actor. I like the band Tool, and much of his other work. Unfortunately, he was so well hid in this movie...he either was not in it...or I just couldn't tell where he was. He was supposed to play special agent "so and so" (not sure about the name.) I did not see him. Maybe I missed him? I saw it on Chiller network...so maybe they cut that part?Otherwise the movie was OK. ...but I almost felt like it was false advertising. Where is Maynard for crying out loud?

I am usually a cheerleader for this kind of film. I mean it bloody pom poms and all when it comes to torture porn but unfortunately this film was a complete flop. My main issue with Vile is that the actors reactions to the torture that was about to explode just didn't match the carnage and the pain they should really be feeling. I mean come on some of the acting was so bad, the dialogue so risible and some of the most inane decisions being made sink this film faster than the titanic. In fact very rarely do I turn a film off and this one I did at the one hour mark. Please avoid this film unless your into bad actors getting killed in horrific ways under a cheap hostel type vibe.

Okay, I tried to like this. I really did. When the synopsis is to inflict pain on someone to gather the "chemicals" in the brain, you would think that the people could think of creative ways to cause pain without breaking a leg, or disfiguring yourself via burning. I mean come on, really? Getting your fingernail ripped off hurts incredibly bad, and they do this to give them the extra "pain boost", so why not do that only? You have 20 of them for pete's sake, and they grow back! I felt sad watching this, as the bad person gathering these people must have chosen from a group of people that rode the short bus to school and only for getting off on watching them hurt each other. Yet at no time was any of that mentioned, just camera's to make sure they do what they are supposed to do. Dreadful acting, pathetic attempts at hysterics, just plain awful. If you see this on Netflix just ignore it. You'll wish you had...
