I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

I'm sorry to say that this movie was illogical and not at all scary. The story line of a cadaver that is still trying to take its revenge might actually have been interesting. But it wasn't and I'm not even sure that was the story line here. There was some door slamming and things turning off by themselves typical of the paranormal genre and then some unexplained deaths that never made any sense. And then the weird sort of African tribal music or something that would pop up throughout the film....sometimes at points where nothing was really happening. There was talk of human sacrifices and possessions that really weren't explained. It was almost as if the creators were like, "ok, what are some things that are scary? Demon possession? Human sacrifices? OK, let's just throw that in here somewhere to scare things up a bit. Oh and let's make a few doors slam and some lights flicker while we are at it. And better get some actors and actresses That look pretty good with very few clothes on to distract people from the fact that this film just really sucks." Poor acting, poorly executed story line and no scares= a total yawn fest.

This is one of those movies I knew I'd seen before, then forgotten what happened. On this rewatch, I realized why. The movie is mostly slow-paced, and borderline boring. Overall, the concept and atmosphere were OK. The main actors work with their material, but for the most part, I didn't feel connected to the characters or the story. The reactions, in many scenes, were tame for the ongoing action. There is plenty of humor and realistic interaction to help identify with the characters, but overall, I felt it was too low-key.The basic story: 4 medical students are given a cadaver to dissect and work with. The one girl of the group senses something wrong with the body. She's left to be the worrywart as her partners work around her heebie-jeebies. People start disrespecting the body & wind up dead. A simple off-color remark, poking & prodding, or mysterious slight - they die.The story itself is muddled. I will have forgotten the ending again in short time, as it was anticlimactic. There was real potential to make this a mood-driven creepy horror movie, but it didn't quite get there.

Let me start off by saying it's not a bad film. I didn't hate it, I just didn't fall in love with it. But I'm glad I watched it.The cinematography is very good, the whole piece is generally rather beautiful. But can beauty make up for a lack of plot or substance? The first half is very good. Scrap that the first two thirds are very good. The build up, the general air of unease created, spot on. Then we have this particular films 'reveal' and it all quickly goes downhill from there.Don't get me wrong, if you are a horror fan I would recommend this over any Saw (bar the original) any day, if only for the originality of the setting. I just don't see it going mainstream.Oh, one more thing; you will never see the phrase 'dipping your toe in the water' in the same light again!

First of all I have to get out of the way my serious objection to the way in which apparently everybody involved in this film doesn't have any idea of where Aztecs lived. Aztecs lived in Mexico primarily around what is now Mexico City. Mayans lived in Mexico and countries farther south in the area of the Yucatan Peninsula, Incans live in the Andes and yes that would have at least been the right continent (South America), but Aztecs in Brazil???? Were they stupid Aztecs who got lost? Can you say that everybody involved with this film is either stupid or criminally insensitive to those cultures? And people wonder why we in the United States are considered dumb by many others around the world? If you can get past that, it is a decent low budget movie. The actors tried hard and the female lead was perky and you hoped she wouldn't get dead in a horrible way as most of the guys did. I thought that her boyfriend portrayed a Christian male as something more than a right wing nutter and that was a bit refreshing.I think that basic anatomy and physiology is necessary to medicine and therefore I think some of the comments about how they shouldn't have been cutting up dead people was a bit.....well medieval. I know I want a doctor that I go to see to have a thorough grounding in those subjects. And the swimming around in tanks of dead people was gross as well as improbable without serious respiratory and protective gear, but hey these people didn't even know where Aztecs lived so why should they get that correct? Note to the film-makers - check your facts next time and go for some type of intelligence or reality. I wouldn't pay for this but if it comes on TV latenight, it is a decent cheesy way to pass a little time.
