Highly Overrated But Still Good
... View MoreGood story, Not enough for a whole film
... View MoreAt first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
... View MoreThe film may be flawed, but its message is not.
... View MoreA movie about a snail that dreams of racing and then gets the power to do so. Please.Alright, it's not as goofy or stupid as it appears. The CGI is great, and if you can accept the oddness of the plot, it's enjoyable. There's some good humor in there, too. It's worth watching more than once, and the ending is good.As the headline of my review says, it's better than it seems. It's not your best animated/cartoon CGI film; there are tons more out there, but get past the fact that there's a racing snail, and it's likable.
... View MoreThis film has some great qualities and I think it is very rare that you get to see an animation or film about snails, well maybe on Nature Channel. This is a very colorful movie, the characters and the scenes are very vivid, the settings make it all believable and it doesn't seem strange that a snail can compete in a car race :)The whole family enjoyed this one, beautifully made, great characters, lots of comedy for both the young and the older viewers. It has some flares, but Turbo is a very likable character and humble you can't help rooting for him all the way to the finish line.
... View MoreThis movie is not good, not good at all. There is much better family entertainment than this. It has nice visuals, but the positives stop there. First off, I think this premise is really stupid. It's about a snail who can go 230 MPH. That's really stupid, in my opinion. Next it's a little too predictable for my tastes. I was able to guess exactly what was going to happen in every scene and it made me feel like I'd already seen the movie. Lastly, the side characters in this movie are amazingly annoying. I wanted the the snail characters to get stepped on the entire movie and I wanted the stereotypical human characters to get a good punch in the face. 4/10, would not recommend.
... View MoreTurbo is not a bad film at all and if anything, it is actually a bit underrated. I enjoyed Turbo better than I anticipated, even if the story is a little derivative of such films like Cars or even the Fast and the Furious. I do like the concept of a slow being such as a snail trying to race in the Indy 500. However, Turbo is better than Cars 2 at least. The animation is beautiful and the voice acting is superb thanks to a strong cast. The film is also even funny at times and has some good inside references to previous films like Cars. This film is about a common garden snail nicknamed Turbo who dreams in competing in the Indy 500 against his idol despite being a very slow snail. But due to a freak accident, Turbo now has the power to be fast. Along with his new human friends and his snail brother, Turbo dreams are about to come true.As mentioned above, this film has a strong voice cast and they elevate the film. There are such actors like Ryan Reynolds, the ever great Paul Giamatti, and the ever recognizable Samuel L. Jackson as Turbo's main snail friend/rival. The voices are colorful and they all breathe in life to their characters.Overall, this isn't the best animation film of up to the point of this film's release as such films like Monsters University, The Croods, and Despicable Me 2 are better. But this is a good diversion for the kids and perhaps even the adults themselves. The film is a little kid-friendly, but the messages are pushed across in an easy manner. A nice concept with some derivative elements, this is still a simple pleasure of the summer. I rate this film 8/10.
