The greatest movie ever made..!
... View MoreYour blood may run cold, but you now find yourself pinioned to the story.
... View MoreThe acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.
... View MoreThere is definitely an excellent idea hidden in the background of the film. Unfortunately, it's difficult to find it.
... View MoreNight At The Museum has Ben Stiller in a cash flow problem. One get rich quick scheme after another has fallen through and he needs a job just so he can keep joint custody of his son Jake Cherry. In a nice scene at the Employment office where Ben's real life mom Anne Meara he lands a job as the night watchman at the Museum Of Natural History. The job comes with a few hidden perks. Like since 1953 the exhibits come alive in the evening hours. All as a result of a tablet from ancient Egypt with a spell that was there. Acting as Empresario of the exhibits is Robin Williams as President Theodore Roosevelt who was instrumental in founding the museum. But previous night guards Bill Cobbs, Mickey Rooney, and Dick Van Dyke know about the nightlife and the tablet and they want it for themselves.I think the special effects kind of overwhelm the story though it's a good one. Stiller is fine as your every man Walter MItty like dreamer. Small wonder he wound up playing Walter Mitty later on.The film is a lot of fun and with a cast like this it would be a shame for the whole family to miss it.
... View MoreNight at the Museum is a decent family comedy film starring Ben Stiller. As could be inferred from the title Night at the Museum is about a man who works night shift at the American Museum of Natural History and realizes that the Museum comes to life at night from being influenced by an ancient Egyptian artifact. There are a host of cameos and the special effects are not bad. This is a harmless excursion for the family though and little kids would be most satisfied. If you fall under that demography this movie could be the right excursion for you.
... View MoreLarry Daley needs to get a job quickly if his ex-wife is to allow him to keep seeing his son; he finds a job working as the night-watchman at a New York museum. It turns out that it is no ordinary museum; each night all of the exhibits come to life! This means he has to contend with a rampaging T-Rex skeleton, assorted animals, Attila the Hun as well as miniature cowboys and Romans who want to fight each other. He does get some help though; from a waxwork of Teddy Roosevelt. He learns that the strange goings on are due to a valuable Egyptian tablet. After his first night he is ready to quit but doesn't because of his son; after the second he is almost fired then on the third night he invites his son to see his work this will be his toughest night yet as he must unite the living exhibits to thwart a robbery. This film is good harmless fun that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The story is fun with plenty of laughs and a tension without being too scary. There is no offensive material beyond the sight of a monkey urinating on Larry. The special effects are really rather good making it easy to suspend disbelief and accept that everything has come to life. Ben Stiller does a fine job as Larry, a believable ordinary man caught up in an extraordinary situation. He gets fine support from Robin Williams as Roosevelt; and plenty of other familiar actors including Dick Van Dyke, Steve Coogan, Owen Wilson and Ricky Gervais amongst others. Overall I'd say that I enjoyed this more than I would and would recommend it to anybody wanting some family friendly entertainment.
... View MoreI'm perplexed with this movie because the best goes along the worst. Thus, the idea of museum exhibits becoming alive is really original and as usual only Americans could guess it while my french fellows have a big hole for imagination! For sure, the magic explains all because it's really extraordinary that wax or toys people gain also character and attitude! However this brilliant idea is badly beaten by the result because those 3 nights of mayhem are too much repetitive! (for that, the sequel is more straightforward!). Next, the father character is interesting as for one time, we have at last a character doing a ordinary job! However he is also really bizarre: as other American movies, we can see that being jobless means also being a bit crazy! Next, his divorce is also the usual Cliché: the new father has as expected a true job (bond broker!) but the old father wins the heart of the kid as being fantastic! At least, the cast is so-so: Stiller is funny only half the time that means that the other half time he is really a dolt! Wilson does his usual irritating Wilson. If i give 7, it's only because of this original idea and the simple pleasure to meet again late Robin in a familial movie!
