This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

The movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

Dusty is an ordinary utility plane, every day accomplishing his routine flight, but as expected, he has a big dream up his sleeve, to race in the Wings Around the Globe rally. With the help of Skipper, a retired war veteran, and some enthusiastic friends, he's willing to give his best shot at making a good impression in the competition.Although it's a used-up idea of someone/something (in this case a plane) who's trying to overcome his/its condition, it manages to be a bit distinct from the rest. Inspired by the masterpiece "Cars", this movie features Dusty, a crop duster who's going to learn that it takes a lot more than courage to be a world-class racer. His good soul and his underdog position will prove to be most helpful in the upcoming challenge, although disappointment and betrayal will show up as well.It looks gorgeous (although this is becoming common) and with its reality-show presentation it brings additional thrill into the picture. It has a bit of comedy (although I hoped for more) and some drama (again could have been more) keeping you alert all the time, dead moments not being present (or insignificant). Although at the beginning I had the impression that I'm seeing "Turbo" for the second time, it slowly veered off into something equally delightful. It might not deserve its rating but I really liked it!

So far, this (spoiler alert!) is the only 1 I would give to a "Disney" movie, and even then, I'm just being generous for the animation, which for DisneyToon standards is watchable. But considering how the rest of the film is the most tediously insufferable I've ever seen, the animation works against it. The story is far from innovative and is executed in the most predictable way possible, and right away, you will want to assume that Dusty wins the race (which ACTUALLY happens, as if DisneyToon wants to appeal to under 2-year-olds). The characters virtually never take a break from speaking or doing something else, and plenty of the foreign planes (come to think of it, how are cars and planes, and presumably everything else, constructed in this world anyway?) are just stereotypical. The jokes are closer to cringeworthy than not hilarious, including an oil sight gag that is supposed to substitute for fecal matter. And speaking of that, 2013 happened to be among the worst years for modern animation, alongside 2006. DisneyToon, we didn't need you throwing more on top of that biohazardous, malodorous pile. How disappointed are we at John Lasseter for even green lighting this? Plenty, as this is a film that should be avoided at all costs. It's just another shameless cash grab under Disney's flag to sell more RC planes and such, but offering none of the possible appeal of Cars.

Reading other viewer comments sometimes really amazes me. This flick has quite it's share of negative reviews for one reason or another, and I scratch my head wondering why all the bad press for what's nominally a kid's movie. I can't see where the idea of pushing one's self to excel at something and get better at it is such a bad idea, but in the current culture that seems to reward mediocrity I guess that's what happens. Personally I thought the film made clever use of it's characters and situations, and I got a kick out of a scene in a crowded airport where a large, inconsiderate airplane bumped into a smaller one who exclaimed "I'm working here!" - a Midnight Cowboy/Dustin Hoffman reference if I ever saw one. Thanks to this picture, at least now I'll know what a three pylon chicane and a half-Cuban eight are supposed to be; you just don't get that kind of education in movies any more. For all you naysayers out there, it ain't how fast you fly, it's how you fly fast that really matters.

While Pixar was able to make movies that were able to appeal to adults too (not only kids), it seems this Disney rip on "Cars" does not care that much about that. Cars itself was one of the weaker Pixar movies, which is not saying that much because it still was above average. This is a bit weaker than that though.We get through the motions more or less without emotion. Kids will or might lap it up as it is. But adults will have issues caring for the main character or anybody else for that matter. It checks every story point it has to, but that is something you notice more like a passing of signs on the road. Show it to the kids, but don't expect to like it yourself
