Very well executed
... View MoreThe acting in this movie is really good.
... View MoreOne of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
... View MoreThere is definitely an excellent idea hidden in the background of the film. Unfortunately, it's difficult to find it.
... View MoreThis movie is truly horrible and one of the worst movies I have ever seen and I have seen a lot.A group of dysfunctional girls go out and make extremely stupid choices. One of the girl's mother has an adulterous relationship with someone she knew from high school many years ago right before she gets married with no explanation why. The drug dealer seems to be the only one with a conscience(!) but is nowhere to be found after an important phone call. Suicide is treated with beautiful acceptance. Even the Bible is misquoted during a lesbian relationship. There is absolutely no positive male portrayed in this movie: One child molester, one adulterer, one drug dealer, etc.Not my idea of entertainment.
... View MoreSo this is a film about perceptions and assumptions because I learned in the last 20 minutes of the film that I had made several assumptions and had based my understanding of the story line on those assumptions. Wow. Was I ever shown a thing or two by the clever writing and understated acting. Also, I was fooled by the seeming innocence of the young girls' familiarities and pleasantries, when the subject matter was actually quite horrifying. So congratulations to the cast and the writers because this was an unexpected and pleasant little surprise of a film. Can't say much about it without spoiling it for others who haven't seen it, but I suggest you watch it and that you keep an open mind. The ultra-calm tone of the film made it all the more ominous. I enjoyed the acting, and didn't find it too amateurish or off putting. I felt the loneliness and isolation of the characters through their acting even though they weren't obvious about it.
... View MoreMy wife (who is 36 years younger than I) wanted to watch this movie, and I thought, "Oh, boy: a typical teen-20-something flick about a bunch of selfish girls who think they know it all, have to have it all their way, and get upset when others do unto them as they have done unto them."I was completely wrong.To.Get.Her is one of the best movies I've seen in quite awhile. What I mean that is that this movie slapped down my preconceived misconceptions and surprised me in the last 20 minutes. This movie is story telling not movie showing. About halfway through I realized I wasn't watching a move but experiencing the angst of these girls (and by de facto, the angst all teens experience).I don't know if "brilliant" is a proper adjective, but it comes close. It's no "Citizen Kane" or "Rivers Edge", but it nonetheless surprises, enthralls, and produces a catharsis so lacking in the Hollywood bilge so popular with the proletariat.Yes: See this, but leave any preconceived misconceptions behind. Let every moment be experienced fresh and new, and, just maybe, you'll "get" what this story is saying.
