After ratting out his Mafia cohorts, Giovanni Manzoni and his family enter the Witness Protection Program and relocate to a sleepy town in France. Despite the best efforts of their handler to keep them in line, Giovanni (now called Fred Blake), his wife and children can't help but resort to doing things the "family" way. However, their dependence on such old habits places everyone in danger from vengeful mobsters.

Purely Joyful Movie!

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

The Manzoni family, a notorious mafia clan, is relocated to Normandy, France under the Witness Protection Program, where fitting in soon becomes challenging, as their old habits die hard. The Family is no Goodfellas, Casino or The Godfather Trilogy and at times i do wish it was. Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer do try their best but in the end it wasn't enough, Tommy Lee Jones wasn't even needed to be in there and at times i felt like he was just bored to even show up and even when he does he walks like a turtle. The action was also goofy at times and a bit stupid. Overall despite the terrific and talented cast this movie couldn't pick what it wanted to be in the end. (4/10)

Upon second viewing, this film is pretty damn harsh. I didn't quite remember the intensity of the final scenes (they are worth watching alone). Generally light-hearted and almost comedic, this film cranks itself up significantly in the final thirty minutes becoming a serious mafia film. For myself, I found it a somewhat uncomfortable mix of genres. You come to realize this almost loveable, mixed-up, yet loyal family, are actually a bunch of hardcore psychopaths; much like the crew pursuing them. De Niro leads a great cast including an endearing Pfeiffer and Jones. I even liked the FBI guys. I can see myself coming back to enjoy this film every few years. Unlike many of the reviews I have read, in reflection, I really enjoyed this film.

As usual little D is trying to act tough and he still just can't cut it. He just is not convincing as a big bad mobster. The only person he could really punch in the face is a girl. what a woos. Actually his acting is getting worse as he gets older. That's because of his conceit he thinks he is great. He has no ability to act a different character. He is always the same dawdy jerk.

This film kept me entertained all the way through, which is not a common experience for me.The acting was great and the cinematography was beautiful. The story- very compelling and thought provoking. If you like films that make you think, relate deeply to real life situations and explore those issues we don't talk too much about, then this is the film for you. 10/10 Actions have consequences and this film explores the long-term repercussions of temporary arrogant gain.If you like Robert De Niro, you will love this film, he portrays the character beautifully.Gripping, entertaining and a solid film.It was not what I expected at first out of the film but it is a decent thriller, better than my initial expectation.IF you enjoy thrillers that are realistic then this is a great experience, you won't regret.
