Boring, long, and too preachy.
... View MoreAbsolutely the worst movie.
... View MoreIt's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
... View MoreIt’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
... View More'Le Tout Nouveau Testament' - also known as 'The Brand New Testament' - Benoît Poelvoorde plays God as rarely depicted on screen in this daring comedy from Belgium. Far from a compassionate deity, Poelvoorde is mischievous, mean-spirited middle aged man who spends all day in a tatty bathrobe, making humankind suffer for his own amusement. This set-up is initially hard to digest due to the slew of unanswered questions that it evokes, but fortunately Pili Groyne, cast as his daughter, soon comes in focus. The plot has Groyne sneak into her father's office and send text messages to everyone stating exactly when they will die, with some great moments in which various people react to the news; Gaspard Pauwels has a hilarious bit part as an internet blogger who repeatedly tries to kill himself to defy his designated death date. The plot also has Pili interview half a dozen would-be apostles in order to write the new testament of the title, something which is sometimes too sentimental for its own good. Then again, as her interviews are cut around scenes of Poelvoorde trying to catch up to her in the outside world, there is still quite a bit of humour to be add. Indeed, the funniest scenes have Poelvoorde undone by all the ridiculous rules he has written for the world and frequently bashed up by his own people who think he is delirious when claiming to be a deity.
... View MoreGod lives in an apartment in Belgium with his wife and his 10-year-old daughter Ea. God spends most of his time in ruining people's life by making weird rules. His daughter has also power and she wants to create a brand new testament. Ea sneaks inside Gods locked office and sends text messages to everyone in the world informing their scheduled dates of death. It's a film that has full of imagination and also has a dark comedy side. The concept of the movie was catchy and visually it's a wonderful film. Van Dormael does not lack the skill to pull of beautiful moments from this fantasy movie. Cinematographer, Christophe Beaucarne captures the craziness of God character superbly. Overall, I highly recommend this film to anyone who likes fantasy movies.
... View MoreExcellent movie about self-reflection and the willingness of people to change an undesirable personal situation. The movie starts of a bit silly, with giraffes walking the streets of Brussels and a movie theater filled with chickens but then turns out to treat a deep philosophical human theme... God exists, he is an angry, bad-tempered, middle aged, white man living in a small apartment in Brussels from where he controls the world from behind his computer. And he has a daughter, Ea, which he treats badly. One day, Ea has enough and rebels against her father and leaves for earth after sending an sms to each and every human stating the day on which he/she will die. From there, we follow the lives of six people who, now that they know exactly how much time they have left, start to self-reflect and to change their personal lives. From the director of "Mr. Nobody". Memorable quote from God: "I've got humanity by the balls! They don't know when they are going to die"!
... View MoreThe concept of the movies was good and really interesting, you will indulge in the movies and at every moment make your own theory about the end. This is the best thing a movies can do to its viewer. The only thing i don't like in the whole movie was how easily we believed that the God is only interested in us and other species are not so interesting to him, we are only few thousand years old but our attitude is bigger than anything else.If this movie would have shown the POV of other species also with the concept of god relating to them, then i must have given it the whole 10 out of 10. The end showed clearly that deep inside our heart we humans want everything to be controlled by us and need everything like how we want them to be. This will make us like the main villain of the movies (I can't tell you who is he).
