Rodney Dangerfield had at this point become known for playing sympathetic losers who go to outrageous lengths to climb the ladder of success. Here he is Chester Lee, a salesman with an understanding fiancée and a typical apathetic stepson. While trying to get a promotion, he somehow gets himself into coaching his bosses' championship soccer team, The Ladybugs. He accepts, merely on hearing the team's legacy. He soon finds out that all but one of the players is new to the team and know even less than he does. He then enlists the help of his stepson, a gifted soccer player, having him pose as a girl. The film is funny enough, as Dangerfield's wit carries it through. The b plot of the stepson's crush, who is also the bosses daughter,r is thrown in for teen appeal. This movie does not pretend to be anything more than a harmless farce, and is all the better for it.

This isn't the best movie but is watchable. I wouldn't show it to an 8 year old but fits the PG-13 ratting with ease. The fact that Dangerfield is the star and the premise is that a boy cross-dresses as a girl to be the ringer on an all girls soccer team should be some tip offs as to the content. If you didn't like it maybe you shouldn't let your TV be your baby sitter and have them bake some cookies for the church bake sale instead. I'm sorry but the movie deserves better than the only comment posted, bad as the movie is.If your kids like soccer and you don't mind some off color jokes this isn't a bad movie to get if you can find it. As stated the movie is well within the PG-13 rating.

***SPOILERS*** ***SPOILERS*** You wouldn't guess what the movie was about when you heard the name "ladybugs." You'd think it would be a story about ladybugs, but it isn't. It is called ladybugs because that is the name of the soccer team. It is a girls soccer team. The coach played as Rodney Dangerfield, has a son named Matthew who has to watch one of the girls soccer games. He watches the game and also has a big crush on one of the girls named Kimberly. The ladybugs play a really bad game, and Matthew who watches the whole thing tells his dad what he would do if he played. Then that causes his dad to let Matthew play disguised as a girl because he wants a winning team and wants to keep it a secret from everyone. The next game he starts playing and changes his name from Matthew to Martha. Everyone thinks he's a girl, and he helps everyone out. The ladybugs become a winning soccer team because of him. Then one day Kimberly comes to his house, and he has to change from a guy to girl. She watches T.V. with him, but then Matthew's mom comes home so he keeps having to change from Matthew to Martha to his mom and Kimberly. Then his mom finds out that he was pretending to be a girl, and makes him quit soccer. Then the coach reveals to them that Martha is Matthew, and the girls can no longer have him on their team. You'll laugh really hard when you see it. I'd recommend it to everyone except I think more girls would like it then guys. It's a really funny movie, they have to keep anyone from knowing Matthew is on the team, if you haven't seen it see it. If it's ever on T.V. watch it with friends, they should enjoy it.

A movie with Jonathan Brandis, Jackee, Rodney Dangerfield and the stupid mother from Mr. Belvadere? What were the studio executives thinking? It seems like one big prank on the audience, but sadly it's not. And what is with the editing? And this whole Penny Pester business is a bit perplexing. She is a chunky little thing, but when they show close ups of her legs they are skinny and muscular. I don't think so. They paid people to edit this movie and obviously they weren't really paying attention, just like all people should do if they see this movie on TV. Don't even get me started on The NeverEnding story Part II.........
