It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.

Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.

In Teaching Mrs. Tingle, Helen Mirren shows her ability to play a royal *****, I mean her character here is just ruthless, venomous almost. The acting is very good from Mirren, she really gives a powerful and chilling performance as the evil teacher. Katie Holmes stars too, as the student who mrs tingle is out to get, and ultimately just wants to see her fail. Katie is OK here, it's a pretty cardboard cut out performance, not awful, but she doesn't even compare to Helen's performance. We do get some depth to the characters and some of their background. Barry Watson is about as good as Katie Holmes here, their performances amount to about the same. The writing is standard for this type of a movie. The plot is interesting, not the MOST original in the world, but it's interesting. The movie has some particularly strong, powerful scenes where the actors deliver great lines/monologues very well, Mirren especially. The movie isn't an A+, but it's certainly not an F. Teaching Mrs. Tingle received a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Helen Mirren is usually known for roles like Queen Elizabeth, so her appearance as a nasty teacher held hostage by some students in "Teaching Mrs. Tingle" should be at least a little bit of a surprise. But she still pulls it off. My favorite scene was the "Exorcist" impersonation. One of the notable things about the movie is that they were originally going to call it "Killing Mrs. Tingle" but had to change the title after the Columbine shootings. No matter, it still comes out OK, although it's not the movie that I would recommend above all others. Also starring Michael McKean and Lesley Ann Warren. Director Kevin Williamson wrote the first two "Scream" movies.

Teaching Mrs. Tingle is a wonderful film... by far my most favorite comedy/drama film. It is a indie film (meaning it is not low budget but it is not sold in stores or not noticed or heard about much) but it is a wonderful and funny movie to watch. It has very good music and a very good story line. The artwork on the cover tells it all, the main cast members all black and white with a really red apple lol. I really suggest everyone to rent or buy this movie. Great Cast members Katie Holmes (Dawson's Creek, Batman begins) Barry Watson (7th Heaven) Marrisa Coughlan (Freddy Got Fingered) and Helen Mirren (The Queen, National Treasure 2)

I don't know how this movie got such bad ratings, because this movie is one of the funniest teen movies ever and its script is nicely written. I mean, sure, this movie isn't a masterpiece. however, you will get a good laugh by the subtle and witty remarks the characters say, and how the situations change throughout the film. there are also come clever twists and surprises that'll make you go "oh s***!!" this movie is a classic horror comedy and it is really worth seeing it. rent it and see it with your friends. you guys will love it! oh and there is this one particular scene that you can't miss out on...im going to call it the "exorcist scene"...you'll know what im talking about if you see the film. it is HILARIOUS.
