In the quiet family town of Suburbicon during the 1950s, the best and worst of humanity is hilariously reflected through the deeds of seemingly ordinary people. When a home invasion turns deadly, a picture-perfect family turns to blackmail, revenge and murder.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

Here's The Lowedown on "Suburbicon" (R - 2017 - US)...I'm sorry for his loss.Genre: Thriller/Crime/Comedy My Score: 6.1Cast=8 Acting=9 Plot=7 Ending=6 Story=5 Intense=5 Pace=4 Twist=8 Crime=6 Funny=3As a 1950s suburban community self-destructs, a home invasion has sinister consequences for one seemingly normal family. "What do you think you know, big man? Hmm? Because I know a lot of things." I was really looking forward to this film, it's too bad it could not live up to it. I did not like the racial element at all...I understand that we were awful back then, but it felt like neon orange curtain in a haunted house. The film ended and I was like WTF just happened...took me a while to get it. It was one of those with a great twist that I didn't catch until after I put the Blu-Ray back on the shelf I am not a fan of the Coen brothers (aside from "Burn after Reading") and I should have known I wouldn't care for this one.

A "perfect" little all-white town gets their panties in a twist when a black family, the Mayers, move there in the 1950's. The racist people in town behave like animals, harassing them, and violently protesting and destroying property. Acting like the Mayers are bad, when in fact they are a warm and loving wholesome family. In the meantime, two white sociopaths, Gardner and Rose(Matt Damon and Julianne Moore), live next door to the black family and are murdering people. Some bad stuff has happened. The town eventually finds out about four deaths. The sociopaths are tied to them all. The rest of the town doesn't know this. However, that doesn't stop them from vilifying the black family, by saying "nothing bad ever happened here until they moved in."I think it's a bit too artsy fartsy with it, especially at the beginning. Other than that, it's a great movie, with a subject that's relevant today. If you like satirical moves with important messages about society, this movie may be for you. Or you can open your mind and give it a try. I gave it a 8/10

Why do people think this movie is bad? This movie tell us the ambition drives us in the wrong direction. Good

This movie is so bad that it should get an Oscar for the worst. I watched it for the Coens' writing but now I know they have to direct a movie too if it is an actual Coen brothers movie. I know Clooney is not that bad a director so why would he put it out? He probably thought that with the Coen name it would automatically make money. Seeing Matt Damon in True Grit is an obvious example of how any actor can look bad in a badly written and directed movie. To use the race card in a movie like this is in bad taste especially with the liberal media bashing of our current President. I wonder if the Coens have reached their limit in making good movies?
