Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.

This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.

Jigsaw returns for the sixth time to further the horror story and continue the gruesome conquest of punishing those the killer deems guilty in terrible ways. Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) carries on the legacy of John Kramer (Tobin Bell) but he has to work harder to cover his tracks. Dan Erikson (Mark Rolston) leads the FBI investigation though he has a misguided belief that a former agent is guilty. He kept it a secret that Agent Lindsey Perez (Athena Karkanis) had survived a Jigsaw attack back in the fourth film. John's ex-wife Jill Tuck (Betsy Russell) holds on to a box of Kramer's last wishes but hands over the folders inside when Hoffman demands them. This installment is about Jigsaw continuing his revenge even after he has died.William Easton (Peter Outerbridge) is the focus of this film's terrifying puzzle. He is attacked in his office and wakes up attached to a breathing machine. His decisions at the health insurance company have resulted in people dying so his first task is to hold his breath against a chronic smoker or whoever breaths will have their abdomen squeezed. William makes it out of this test but has to continue forward or explosive bracelets and anklets will explode his limbs. He also must continue forward because his family is held in a cage with a tank of acid above it. It looks like an abandoned zoo and his next step is in a glass observatory. He must choose between his older secretary with her family or a lonely intern. He chooses the intern to die by releasing a chain that makes the young man hang by barbed wire. His third task is to help a lawyer through a maze by stopping steam jets but in the process, he'll get burned. He helps the lawyer through but balks when she tries to cut a key out of his side. A device goes off ripping open her skull. Check out more of this review and others at swilliky.com

After a string of disappointments, the Saw series finally gets back on its feet with Saw VI, since it returns to the suspense and interesting moral themes that made the first 2 movies successful. That doesn't mean for a moment that it's a perfect movie though. The performances remain dodgy and the synopsis talks about Jigsaw's grand scheme finally being revealed. What scheme?! The plot is still weighed down by endless flashbacks and it's all still pretty confusing. With gore galore and the usual torture porn, this is another nasty movie which gets pretty difficult to sit through. However, it's definitely an improvement on the appalling Saw V. At least something actually happens. This functions both as a suspenseful, gritty and at times brutally tense horror film and an interesting and intelligent (If somewhat superficial) critique of the American healthcare system. It's pretty tedious some of the time, but it definitely has its moments and connects to the other movies in an interesting way. It's not that great or anything, but it's a pleasant, and underrated, surprise.6/10

The first one, despite being a low budget movie was quite something. It could have been better but it got me thrilled. After that we get into a loop of decreasing quality, increasing splatter quantity and a seriously flawed plot. Many holes, too many impossible coincidences and too many inconsistensies in a wanna be consistent series of movies. The bad guy breaks his own rules(or his partners),people die whatever choice they make,so there really is no point to watch this so called righteous, yet psychopathic, teaching about appreciating life in the first place. If you like giving more than 5 hours of your life in order to see a plotlles scenario that makes people die in many different ways with a lot of blood and disgust,be my guest...Otherwise I wouldn't recommend it..Watch "seven" with morgan and brad instead or hannibal.I feel guilty even indirectly comparing these awesome movies to this one or the previous ones. Also at many points through all of the movies, except the first, there is a forced timeline manipulation just so the story makes sense....kinda makes sense I mean....Has a chance of making sense..OK it doesn't make much of a sense without tiring you a lot and leaving many holes......

Just when I expected the Saw franchise to turn for the worst, Saw VI surpassed any expectations I once had about a decrease in quality. First off, there are some political motives behind this movie, although I don't really agree with, it was actually a nice touch. With past films I was all about the continuity of the storyline; however my all-time favorite trap scene appeared in this film, the shotgun carousel. In my opinion it is by far the most ballsy and unsettling trap yet. Also, the flow and process going behind the background of Jigsaw was way more complex and thought provoking than any other film. Finally, the addition of the new characters meshed excellently with the returning cast. This ending, unlike Saw V, absolutely threw me for a loop on what was going to happen. It isn't at all the most shocking of endings but it did give me the chills. Not a bad horror flick and a surprisingly good sequel in Saw VI (7/10).
