Absolutely the worst movie.

Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

Tired seventh film in the played out Saw series is a dull endless series of screams and inane torture sequences. This sequel has survivors of the previous films getting together for group therapy, but guess what? Jigsaw's gruesome Rube Goldberg torture devices once again make these boring characters go through a series of unpleasant no-win choices in order to survive. As with the prior sequel, the torture devices and the scenarios do each time make me ask myself, "What would I do in that situation?" but that's not enough to justify the continuation of this series. This sequel and the prior two Saw films were written by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, who wrote the underrated and crassly enjoyable three "Feast" films and "Piranha 3DD," which I think all worked much better than their Saw scripts because those films included a fair amount of humor and did not take themselves seriously at all, whereas these later Saw films are completely devoid of humor. Darren Lynn Bousman's films at least have some hints of irony and black humor, but the deadly seriousness of these later sequels just doesn't work. Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, and Betsy Russell all return, but there's really not much to recommend about this film that you haven't seen already.

I have a soft place in my heart for 'Saw 3D: The Final Chapter'. It is definitely the most unique of all the original seven 'Saw' films. It feels very different to the rest (the first trap is even set outside in a box for the public to view). It also feels like a film designed to wrap things up. It feels like it is closing the arc that is the 'Saw' series. It does all of this surprisingly well. The character of 'Hoffman' really comes into his own in this one. I wasn't the biggest fan of his in the previous films he had starred in, but in this one he is menacing and feels like a genuine and scary threat. There are also a great number of traps in this film and they are all good ones. While in the previous few films it felt a little like they were out of ideas when it came to the traps, they proved people wrong in this one by being very innovative.Without spoiling anything I also love the way the film ended. If they hadn't ended it that way I think they would have regretted it forever. The 3D I could have done without, but that aside this is a distinctly strong entry in a great series.

On its own, Saw 3D has pretty good story and holds attention. It's well designed and everything runs smoothly. It would be decent seven. But as part of Saw franchise it's complete failure. Traps are lousy, and Hoffman is lame substitute for John. His killing spree is in contradiction with basic premise of this series. Until the very end I thought I'll rate it two, maybe three out of ten, but in the last scene I changed my mind. Final twist brings this movie back on track, nicely rounding up all seven movies in meaningful whole.7/10

SAW THE FINAL CHAPTER is the last of the SAW movies to come out before the tragic death of Amy Winehouse. She was only 27 years old. SAW 7 is in 3-D which means that if you wear special glasses, it's almost like you're right there with them. In this movie, Carey Elwes, who in the first film had his foot cut off in a manner similar to Kunta Kinte, is back, and is no longer suing the studio. But while Kunta Kinte had his foot cut off to keep him from escaping the horrors of slavery, Carey Elwes cut his own foot off because Jigsaw told him to. He works for jigsaw. It's worth mentioning that in every movie, the person who can't bring themselves to condemn Jigsaw for his actions is the one who is secretly working for him. It tells the story of Bobby, who has lied to the public about the nature of his Pectoral Scars. SAW3D (they should have done something with that title and the word "sawed") follows the late Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park, who plays a racist that his to tear off all his skin, get it. One of the traps is cage, that Bobby has to swing out of, over some comically large spikes, because HE LIED. Bobby sucks, and can't save anyone, so they all die. All of them. At the end, we get to finally see the Reverse-Bear Trap put to good use, just like father always wanted. HIGHLY Recommended.
