It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

I really enjoyed this movie. It's a very stylish horror with great acting and a relatively decent script. A deaf girl is brutalized and murdered by a gang only to be possessed by a native Indian's spirit temporarily allowing her to go and, as the title suggests, avenge her attackers, who just happen to be the descendants of the people who murdered the native Indian. Maybe a little cliché, I still enjoyed it's slick cinematography and fast pace plot. The lead actress's performance was commendable, she really held her character all the way through and went from mousy girl to a Lara Croft warrior quite believably. It's not Oscar winning material but it's a good film.

Running afoul of a group of deadly criminals, a young woman who falls victim to their cruelty finds herself resurrected with the spirit of an Apache Indian guide controlling her and sets out to seek brutal retaliation against them for what happened to her and how they treated her. This here turned out to be quite the enjoyable and wholly entertaining slasher. What really makes this one quite fun is the fact that there's quite a lot to like here by tying the background of the spirit warrior guiding her into the resurrection, as there's not only the fun of her body being prepared and the ceremony that requires it to be played out in here but also how that's embraced with the black magic indicated that's involved with it all. That gives this quite a strong overall connection here when it gets to the revenge motif that sets her journey in motion and really makes for a great storyline throughout this one as they play off each other nicely. As well, there's also how that's added together with the body decomposing along the way requiring make-up work done in- between the encounters patching herself up which is a nice touch. Likewise, this one also manages to go for the big brutality of the incidents throughout here which is what really gets quite thrilling and action-packed at times. Managing to generate a lot of great encounters here as she sets about to undertake her revenge, this here gives this the rather great fun of her confrontation in the bar slicing up the main leader of the gang while he's unsuspecting of her appearance behind him and then defending herself against their attacks, a great ambush at another members' house and running through him with arrows and the boyfriends' abduction that features her storming after them before they escape which all gives this one quite a lot to really like here. The big assault on their hideout afterward, from the car ambush and the supernatural manifestations to attack as well as defend herself and the strong series of stalking scenes that manages to go about generating her revenge quite well which is a rather fun, bloody scene while setting up the true finale at the trailer-park which features the fine brawl and eventual comeuppance that really enables this to end on a high-note. Along with the fine gore here in the brutal kills, these here make for quite an enjoyable effort even if there's a few slight flaws here. The main issue here is the fact that there's little reason here to care what happens due to the very predictability of the plot due to the set-up of going for the rape-revenge angle and having it accomplished so early on in here as there's very little to be accomplished here by showing them going through the entire passage knowing full well what's happening. This could've had some fun by going more for a true, straight-up slasher that didn't spell out the identity from the beginning which would've added more to those scenes as a whole, and was really the main issue holding this back. The CGI was a little woeful at times, but otherwise there's not too many other flaws here.Rated R: Graphic Violence, Extreme Graphic Language including strong racial slurs and a Rape scene.

Avenged is nothing more than a decent low budget revenge horror film. That's fine. I like this stuff. I don't even care if it's a ripoff of "I Spit on Your Grave," with Native American supernatural forces mixed in. I've always found that stuff to be hokey, but I'll go along for the ride. The story is quite familiar, but who cares, it's cheap horror. The characters are reasonably well developed for this genre, although the acting is spotty enough to knock the movie down a peg. The art direction is mostly good and the lighting is effective. The cinematography is fairly good most of the time, but too often, seriously betrays the film's low budget. The gore effects and CGI are good enough, considering. I could have enjoyed the movie and given it 4 stars for being above average and reasonably entertaining. But I'd bet my right eye that the 5 star reviews (9-10 stars on IMDb) are written by people with some connection to the filmmaker. This movie is just too flawed, in really big, obvious ways for that many people to love it that much. So watch it if you want, but I'd recommend lowering your expectation if you don't want to feel cheated at the end, as I and most of the honest reviewer were.

Whoo... That was something. When i started watching this i had no idea that its gonna blow my mind into millions of pieces. Everything in this movie was just beyond imagination because of flawless performance by Amanda Adrienne. I am her new fan starting today. I am overwhelmed by the cinematography and effects. I was like WTF when i saw that first kill, i have seen thousands of kills in movies with lots of special effects but i have to say this was the best of all. Amanda did a splendid job playing the deaf girl in town. The way she was killing those f***kers was awesome. The way they r**ed and wronged her was horrible and intolerable, But she did what she had to do what she was meant to do.I don't believe that this movie is so underrated. I guess its because of the ending. I don't like it either, her boyfriend just burned her like nothing. And to think he spend many days finding her and when at last he did, all he could do was burn her to dust? Are you fu***ing kidding me!!! He should at least have said a proper goodbye with a nice hug or something. That was something i didn't expected, to be honest the whole movie was unexpected for me. Anyway we can hope she saved lots of other girls in future(who might become their next target) by finishing the bastards for all eternity.Really man i am impressed... Respect for the main cast and all the people who made such a MASTERPIECE.10/10 (Great casting, great cinematography, great effects, great story)
