Crawl or Die Trailers

Earth as we know it is gone. A virus has destroyed the planet and rendered all its women infertile, all but one. An elite team of soldiers are tasked with bringing the woman to safety on the newly habitable Earth Two. But when they are forced underground they find themselves fighting for survival from an bloodthirsty creature in a maze of ever shrinking tunnels. As the team's ranks start to dwindle, the tunnels shrink and the ammunition run out, the crawl for survival becomes more and more desperate.

How wonderful it is to see this fine actress carry a film and carry it so beautifully.

Wow! What a bizarre film! Unfortunately the few funny moments there were were quite overshadowed by it's completely weird and random vibe throughout.

The movie's only flaw is also a virtue: It's jammed with characters, stories, warmth and laughs.

Crawl Or Die is an indie gem. I ran across it on Amazon and was intrigued by the premise and the poster. What sealed the deal for me was the fact that Oklahoma Ward, the director, made himself available for questions on the IMDb message board. Brave move to connect with an audience at that level. It makes me respect the guy and gives me insight to the fact that he is very proud of his movie. As he should be. This film was clearly made with fun in mind. The opening title card appears 17 minutes into the film with a freeze frame and a single word, "CRAWL", establishing what you can expect for the rest of the movie. As the seemingly endless tunnel grows narrower, the focus of the film narrows to Tank, a badass member of a special rescue team charged with protecting the last fertile woman on earth. There is an alien monster fast on the heels of the crawlers, but the real menace is the the tunnel itself, which is harrowing and relentlessly claustrophobic. Typically, tunnel scenes in movies are shot with cutaways or are designed over-sized in order to accommodate proper Hollywood lighting. Not here. Ward wisely keeps the camera inside the tunnel with the actors. At times it's dark and hard to see what's happening. Other times it's disorienting. There are no scenes outside the tunnel, and that's what makes it feel as if we are also enduring this nightmare. For over 60 minutes we get no relief from the dread of the ever-tightening tunnels or the uncertainty of what lies ahead. There is a point where Tank must make an important decision regarding the "package". It is a startling but honest reaction. It's the kind of moment that wouldn't happen in a big-budget Hollywood production, but a risk that is worth taking by an indie filmmaker.Kudos also to Nicole Alonso for conveying a real sense of determination and strength and while putting herself through what looked like a very grueling and painful ordeal.Crawl Or Die won't appeal to a mass audience, nor is that its intention, but it's a great way to spend 90 claustrophobic minutes feeling like you are a part of the action and wondering if you could survive.

While being a big fan of scary movies, this one was new to me and the experience was new as well. I agree whatever is chasing them is scary the real nightmare for me was the thought of the tunnel getting tighter and tighter as everyone keeps moving forward. How many of us haven't had to squeeze into a closet or sit in a small chair or ride a packed bus or subway. The movie conveys the feeling of being squeezed in with excellent effect. I didn't rank it very high because the movie in my opinion was very simply (not much plot), but the feeling of anxiety stuck with me through out the film, as well as the curiosity of where the tunnel was going to end, if it was going to end. If you catch yourself nosing through on line video selections or scrolling through your cable TV menu and see this one, Stop and check this one out.

Just how on earth is this receiving the high marks on IMDb? I can only imagine it's friends and family of the film maker and cast that are writing them because the reviews do not reflect the quality of this film. It's a badly scripted and badly realised mish mash of influences such as Alien, Aliens and The Descent but without any of the things that made those memorable such as a cohesive plot or character development. The characters are so one dimensional as to be non existent and are mostly confined to a couple of sentences along with a grunt or two. The main protagonist is a poor copy of Tank Girl and seems to think that simply curling your lip is an accurate portrayal of being tough. The plot has very big holes and inconsistencies which I don't believe were deliberate but rather that the writer couldn't be bothered to actually be doing with such things and believe that the action would carry it along. That may have been true if the pacing didn't veer from confused to drawn out. This wouldn't work even as a poorly executed video game. The one thing it does do fairly reasonably is a claustrophobic cinematography but this is a one trick pony and wears thin very quickly. If this had been edited down to a 20 minute short it may have had its merits but at its current length this film shows its inadquecies in a woeful manner for all to see. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery but in this case I really would change that to insult. I don't mind no budget films and love experimental, challenging, indie and art house films but this fails on every level leaving the viewer robbed of the time watching this that could have been used more constructively - for example watching paint dry.

i'll start off by saying i'm pretty sad to see the comparisons to this and that movie. "its like alien"..."its a cheap the descent knock-off" great so in that case any movie that features a similar aspect to another movie automatically reduces your review to 4 stars? Heck in that case The Raid 2 gets 4 stars as it features a prison...just like..oh Shawshank Redemption, the much..better..plotted..movie.People have to realise what was accomplished with this movie on $8000! I'd never personally seen such a movie as this, and having watched some pretty intense movies the past 3 decades (in fact thousands of movies as i'm a bit of a movie nut) I can safely say that it made me feel ill just by watching the gorgeous Tank character and what she had to go through. With no certainty of getting out of it in one piece, an ever-tightening sense of fear and isolation, and with a relentless single entity in pursuit in one massive extended 1 hour 29m scene. And you know what else? I commented about the movie on social media and received lovely replies of thanks back from the director and star, lovely polite people that appreciate their fans. So, enough of the comparisons to other movies, this had PLENTY more going for it as an 'own piece' Mr O, England
