The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Liam Neeson, starring in his his now standard turn of several similar action thrillers. A man with a past given a chance to redeem himself with judicious amounts of crowd-pleasing violence. Perhaps it's unfair to say the Northern Irish actor could phone in this performance from anywhere in the world, as he does it so well, but one can understand those that criticize the actor for repeating himself, with the inevitable diminishing effect at the box office.Run All Night deserves to be seen as more than just another Liam Neeson early-year actioner. It's a nasty movie with great pace and a strong spine thanks to those two prolific leads. Although it does have some flaws and may drag in between scenes, though as an action thriller it provides the necessary thrills and interest for the viewers.

I had a hard time bringing myself to watch 'Run All Night'. I think a large part of the reason for that is that all Liam Neeson thrillers these days feel interchangeable. He plays basically the same character in them all and they all follow a pretty similar and formulaic story line. While I did enjoy 'Run All Night' for the most part, this did certainly hold true again. There isn't anything particularly unique about this film. It's just another solid, yet flawed, action/thriller starring Neeson. The action is the strongest part of this film. There are some good sequences throughout the movie, the stand-out being the early car chase with the cop car, where the usual roles are reversed. There is also an 'R' rating which helps improve the film in certain scenes. The violence is reasonably heavy throughout and this brings a good level of intensity to the film. The flaws though are plentiful. The role of 'Andrew Price' played by Common made no sense at all. He was brought in as a "professional killer" who is supposed to be the best at what he does. However, in every scene he's in he's absolutely terrible at what he does. You have to see the film to fully appreciate what I'm talking about, but it's unbelievably poor directing. Another problem lies in the fact that there are zero likable characters. Everyone in this film is highly flawed in almost every way and that makes it very hard to root for anyone. You're supposed to root for Neeson, simply because he's Liam Neeson, but anyone who stops and thinks about that for a moment will realise it doesn't make any sense to do so.I still managed to enjoy 'Run All Night' for the most part, but I fear it will be pretty forgettable. I would really like to see Neeson push himself if he's going to continue putting out these action/thrillers every year. Change his character and the formula of the story up a bit to keep it fresh. Until he does that, I'm going to have a hard time getting excited about any of them.

When I sit down to watch Run All Night, I don't expected so much. In the last 10 years, we got enough Liam Neeson action film, such as the Taken-trilogy, Unknown and A Walk Among Tombstones. The action is non-stop and entertaining. There're only just a little drama, but it's enough. Although, I think the relationship between Liam Neeson and his son, played by Joel Kinnaman isn't shown as deeply as it had to be.The acting and the direction are also good. The editing and the cinematography are amazing, especially in the ending. There're some little problems with the script, but if you want to see an action movie, it's okay. This film is definitely worth a watch. I hope Neeson will star in films at least as good as this.8/10

I liked the movie but I didn't. Acting, screenplay, story , action is all good. I mean it doesn't make fun of viewer with unrealistic stunts. Its strange though because I felt the story is little fair to jimmy though he may not have deserved it. You 'll get it after you have watched the movie. Jimmy is not the hero in the story, and we won't expect him to stand after the unbelievable mess got cleaned but you'll root for his son and his family to stay alive because of his good choices despite being jimmy's son. That's it so its a nice movie better than recent Liam's action flicks. I would have given more than 7 but little disappointed with the story in area where most viewers don't notice. If you decide to give a bad guy a chance for redeem you must make it look like he deserves it. But may be its just me over analyzing.
