Waste of time

... View MoreGreat example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

It has all the trade marks of a Z-grade feature, starting with the obvious, it is a video production (film would've been too expensive). In the end quality doesn't matter so long the film is entertaining. As it happens Night Feeders is one of those rare cases of a Z-grade feature that delivers what it intends to; extreme campy entertainment. Movies of this sort are always too cheap to be taken seriously. Some movies embrace that and are played for laughs, like Evil Aliens or Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Night Feeders has a few good lines, and parts of it are pretty chirpy, but it is not a comedy. The movie presents four quirky rednecks who find them selves up against little green men. In horror films, I am used to seeing a mean spirited portrayal of South Eastern Americans (see Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or House of 1000 Corpses, among others). These guys, though they don't amount to anything thicker than cardboard, are not as unlikeable, and for an eighty minute feature (which is short) Night Feeders spends an appropriate amount of time with them before getting to the point.Director Jet Ellors biggest mistake is his over confidence in his special effects crew. For about fifty minutes, Ellor is smart enough to keep the little men reduced to haloed silhouettes in the undergrowth but he cannot maintain this subtlety, and eventually, one of these guys steps into the light, and what we see is something that looks like it was generated using the same equipment that constructed the light cycle sequence for Tron thirty years ago. Night Feeders runs out of steam in the last twenty minutes, and I found myself quickly loosing interest, what little climax there is is not very good. In the end, the movie entertained me, and if anything, it increases my understanding of Z-grade features. There is nothing really to understand other than, they are made mostly for fun and then the makers hope that the product will find it's way to a minor film festival or that the sponsors will offer more money for the next project.
... View MoreThis movie was cool, but the part where it comes to who will survive.. should have been Andy(Mike Monzitta) cause he was the most heroic one with that much guts.. if he would'v been the hero.. this movie would not have been lowly rated. He should have been the hero. And when it came for him to die and get eaten...the unwanted pathetic scene was disgusting well his death scene should not have been that bad keeping in mind his courage and guts and his heroic looks , just not cool.. i would more likely love to conclude that Mike Monzitta is also a perfect actor and he should be taken in more movies by directors..
... View MoreRednecks and friends encounter aliens delivered to Earth by way of a meteorite that happens to land in a North Carolina pond. The diminutive splash caused by the falling space rock, looks more like a pebble being thrown into the water for the effect, but what the heck it is a low budget movie. The acting, locations, dialog, and character development, are above average considering the obvious monetary constraints. The aliens are hidden in darkness most of the time and that negates to a certain extant whatever flaws they may have. I thoroughly enjoyed "Night Feeders" for it's interesting story, well placed humor, and production quality from what was obviously a very limited budget. - MERK
... View MoreReminisce of a Sunday afternoon sci-fi channel special NIGHT FEEDERS tells the tale of a small redneck town going through the motions; arguing with their wives over whether he should fix the car or her TV. He chooses the television to fix first if he values eating, according to her .Amidst all the hillbilly love a meteor has fallen from the skies and landed in the small one horse town. Doing what seems to be a normal occurrence for them a group of deliverance like guys head off into the woods for a little "R and R", but what they don't expect is the meteor that has landed on the town has brought someone with it . Will the visitors overtake their town or will it be "Carolina BBQ at its finest"? NIGHT FEEDERS was a nice change of pace of a nightly movie viewing experience. Director Jet Eller put forth a lot of devotion and effort into making NIGHT FEEDERS one of the few independent sci-fi films to actually be worth while. There have been so many floating around that just do no justice for those involved. NIGHT FEEDRS is no such case. Sitting here typing up this review I honestly cant think of anything that bothered me about this film .The story was top notch and I must make note of how well Eller achieved in keeping me entertained throughout the film with his unique style of story telling. And I'd be a fool to not mention the performance of the acting, which surpasses that of a norm indie film. I thought there was a nice array of characters herein to make this a highly enjoyable movie. The performance of Donnie Evans was my favorite part of this movie. At one point he was trying to light the campfire and flamed it up to high grazing his face, asking "are my eyebrows still there??" Lines such as that throughout the film really added a different kind of vibe to this film making this one of my favorite Sci-Fi films ever seen. Kudos go out to Jet Eller and the amazing cast , led by Evans. Thanks guys; and it's Texas BBQ at its finest!!!!!! .
