A Nightmare on Elm Street Trailers

Teenagers in a small town are dropping like flies, apparently in the grip of mass hysteria causing their suicides. A cop's daughter, Nancy Thompson, traces the cause to child molester Fred Krueger, who was burned alive by angry parents many years before. Krueger has now come back in the dreams of his killers' children, claiming their lives as his revenge. Nancy and her boyfriend, Glen, must devise a plan to lure the monster out of the realm of nightmares and into the real world...

if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."

Thanks to Wes Craven's vision of the ultimate villain, he created one of the greatest horror films ever. Robert England portrayed antagonist Freddy Krueger so convincingly that this menacing character was bound to give us nightmares for years to come. In a time before CGI was so commonly used, the visual and special effects were incredible, perfectly conveying the nightmare world of the victims. The idea of a ruthless killer killing teenagers in their sleep is scary enough; now add blades for fingers, a constant foreboding atmosphere, scary music and suspense and a classic is born. Constantly nominated as one of the best horror films.

OK so I know this is classic but still I was not expecting it to be good. But I was wrong and this one just rocks. Freddy is a terrifying psycho whom you wont want anywhere near you ever, especially not in your dreams. Ladies were hot and acting was good enough and Freddy was the best. So if you still haven't watched this one yet and wanna watch a nice horror movie then just watch it.

Realistic view on sexual abuse survivors, not much graphic imagery (of the actual child abuse), subtle memories. Abuser presented as an actual "harmless" person who the parents trusted. So much as to make us believe the kids lied about the abuse for a part of the movie. Which is very realistic, for real life abusers are often close to the kids, someone trusted. "He's not after us because we lied. He's after us because we told the truth." That line really settles the fear to me, more than anything else to be honest. The adults in the movie are pretty disapointing though, their silence is understandable at first but becomes a bit frustrating and annoying after a while. All in all, great movie, iconic, all that stuff. But the creepiness of child sexual abuse, the idea of helplessness is what hits home for me.

when I was a signet, I sneaked downstairs to watch this film. I understood it from the playground to be evil and spine inducing. however as I neared the door to spy into our front room to catch glimpses of the film I smelt the enticing aroma of my mama's cookies. distracted I went into the kitchen and ate two of the blighters. then I went back to bed and never saw any of the film.
