Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
... View MoreAt first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
... View MoreIt is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
... View MoreThe movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.
... View MoreSlater (Lachlan Nieboer) is celebrating his birthday with Nadia (Nora-Jane Noone) who gets abducted for a better life with "Brand New U." Slater wasn't supposed to be there and gets a new life too from an organization which matches a person with someone else and allows them to take over their life. The catch is that they must forgo their past and have no connection to it. So then they place new Slater and new Nadia working in the same building....guess how that works out.The film, when not a confused mess, was a slow moving drama attempting to create confusion as it unravels it. Perhaps hard core science fiction fans might like it, I couldn't get into it. The main characters were boring and lackluster. They seemed to watch Slater every second of every day...except for that one time.Guide: F-word, brief sex. No nudity.
... View MoreWhile many gave low ratings for this film, I liked it because it was a decent attempt at a new topic by relative newcomers. There is indisputably a good amount of visually stunning camera work, no horrific mistakes, and there's a real attempt at doing something different, thought-provoking and memorable.
... View MoreThis pretentious attempt at a movie, as others have pointed out, has no redeeming qualities. The story such as it is would possibly have made for a passable short (10-15 minutes max), but instead there are now 100 minutes of my life that I regret spending on it.Don't make the same mistake I did - heed the advice of the other reviewers. Don't watch this.Okay, so my review does not contain ten lines of text yet. So let me repeat: don't waste your time on this movie. It's not worth it. Do something fun instead. Floss your cat, what do I know.Still not long enough. Well, okay, the actress is cute. Apparently, her surname is No-one. A bit like "My name is nobody" :-)
... View MoreSo Writer/Director of "Identicals" Simon Pummell. You've presented us with a perverse perception of a dastardly dystopian society. But what precisely do you mean to say with your sad and sullen story? And Cinematographer Reinier Van Brummelen. Your images are gorgeous. Breathtaking even. Yet what are we supposed to collectively draw from them? "Identicals" is the example-deluxe of a film that is staggeringly saturated with style and chic. And co-leads Nora-Jane No one ("Brooklyn") and Lachlan Nieboer ("Charlie Countryman") are scarcely a chore to ogle. However, when flair and flamboyance is evidently all you've got to dispense, we are rendered pulverized by a prevalence of pointless panache over substance.Only in the case of the slick but ill-conceived "Identicals", it is much more a matter of style at the almost absolute ANNIHILATION of substance.
