Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

High school musical is the best movie with all the songs I love them all

Reading negative reviews from users on this movie makes me laugh. Those who give High School Musical a measly 1 or 2 stars are the same people who read "millennials are killing..." articles and nod in agreement. They are also the same people who probably went into this movie with actual hopes for some decent acting and a realistic plot. Any expectations will cause a downfall. If you fully embrace the fact that this movie is a whole new level of dorky and catchy, it makes the experience all the better. It is a film filled with cheesy songs and exuberant choreography that seems to take place in the most random of places. The plot is 100% predictable and the acting is terribly funny. Don't watch any HSM with any intent to really critique it; it's funny because it's bad, so pop some pop corn, sit down, and enjoy the show!

I'm in high school and I've never met anyone as emotionally stunted as every character in this movie. Even if someone could look past the unrealistic depiction of high school in its essence; that is: to go to SCHOOL, and report to class and not to run around with your friends and a basketball like an idiot, the characters are unforgivably one-dimensional. No one seems to understand or accept the rather simple concept of having multiple interests and hobbies, otherwise known as having a personality. And when the cast eventually does come around, it's almost out of nowhere and too soon in the story, literally not even ten minutes after the footage of Troy's dismissal of the musical is shown to Gabby do the orchestrators of this plan make a complete one-eighty in their opinions regarding the musical. This along with terribly cliché, cardboard acting and shallow songs makes this a movie someone can only watch ironically.

This movie is probably one of the best movies I have ever seen. It does not only have great catchy music it has great plot. I remember seeing this movie when I was little in a movie theater and it changed my world. Not only is Troy my star crossed lover, he is a good role model. He shows people to step out of your comfort zone and do something you are not used to doing, no matter what anyone thinks. I watch this movie at least once a month. Gabriela shows that being smart isn't bad, that being smart is something to be proud of. All the music is well done with extremely unique choreography. All shows a sense of enjoyment, make kids look forward to be in high school, as it did for me.
