It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review

For starters, the first time I watched this movie I was with my six year old sister and way back in 2009. Although just beginning to learn English as her second language my sister giggled as she watched it. I found it hysterical. I enjoyed Miley's double life incorporated with simple humor and comedy only understood by what I might say people with child like personality. I also came across some great songs like Crazier by Taylor Swift and Bless the Broken Road. Moving on, some reviews mentioned the movie not going into more detail. For instance, Jackson's alligator incident that probably needed surgery but only portrayed in the movie as a practical joke. No offense but this is a kids movie. You don't mind Tom getting a surgery from getting beat up by Jerry do you? You just smile at that. Furthermore, my mother also enjoyed the movie however she dozed off during the movie. Not surprising she does that when watching all movies but I digress. In addition, I really like the setting of the movie. All those ranches, simple town, farm animals are somethings I live for. Up until now my sister and I would occasionally get the DVD out and have a go at it. We still enjoy it. Overall it was a good movie.

Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009): Dir: Peter Chelsom / Cast: Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, Emily Osment, Jason Earles, Melora Hardin: Based on the popular TV series, the feature film focuses on the person behind the music. After being in the spotlight Hannah Montana spends two weeks in her home town where everything depends on people not knowing who she is when her wig is off. Rushed premise deteriorates into predictable storytelling. Directed by Peter Chelsom with some good musical numbers. Chelsom's trek record is spotted at best. Among his credits are Shall We Dance and The Mighty. Miley Cyrus pulls off the duo job of star and hometown girl. It is recycled material but her enthusiasm scores points. Billy Ray Cyrus plays her father who will find romance but no where does he find a way to make this guy interesting. There is even the guy whom Montana will find romance with whom will go through the motions until he realizes that he loved the real her. Give me a break already. Flat supporting roles by Emily Osment and Jason Earles. Melora Hardin makes an appearance as Billy Ray's romantic interest and one could imagine that she wishes to be on the set of The Office instead. The film examines Montana's roots while story never really takes off. In fact it is all geared as a bad promotion for a TV show that will be every bit as remembered as Lizzy Maguire in a few years. Score: 3 ½ / 10

not really good, but still entertaining and worth watching.did not turn out what i thought it would be and certainly not Miley's best but still it was not bad,nor good,it was alright,i am a big fan of Miley Cyrus and have been watching the show since 7.but the movie was disappointing, watching the trailer was exciting but to be absolutely truthful, the movie was just okay and not ''great'',so i think this movie could have done better but did'not.Billy Ray was in the movie and i thought he would be great at first ,and Jason Eales was excellent and Miley was okay too,Emily was fabulous, like always,so i think the movie was not perfect, but certainly not a complete fail.

I will admit outright first, I do not like the show at all really, because I find it mainly unfunny and feel apart from two or three actors the acting is not good. So I wasn't expecting much when I saw Hannah Montana:The Movie out of curiosity, and while I do think it is a marginal improvement over the show, that isn't saying much. The scenery is sometimes very nice, but I felt the editing was choppy in places. I also don't really like the soundtrack that much. Butterfly Fly Away was sweet, but I do not like The Climb at all, mostly because the lyrics are really uninspired and Miley Cyrus's vocals were rather forced for my liking. What else didn't I like about the movie? Well, there was the clichéd plot line, with one too many predictable turns. There was a weak script, that tried to be funny or touching but failed, and a very dull romance. Then there is the message, for me this is one of the most hypocritical messages I have seen in a film in a long time. I can't say anything good about the acting or direction either. The direction is simplistic, while Miley Cyrus verges on painful to watch. Emily Osment tries her hardest, but is given literally nothing to do, while Billy Ray Cyrus should stick to singing than acting. And Barry Bostwick needn't have bothered really, he is a good actor, but with such a poorly written character he is wasted.Overall, it is a waste of time. By all means you can see it and like it, but to be honest I didn't think much of this. 2/10 Bethany Cox
