If you like Hero, House of a Thousand Flying Daggers, National Treasure, or Last Tango in Paris, you will love this film. It has that hint of an epic film tempered with the legitimacy of an Oscar nominated documentary. Yes! It is that REAL! Nicolas Cage's acting was spot-on, Salam Hyack was spectacular. The lightning effects during the rain storm put me right in the movie with the main characters. The sex scenes were done very, very tastefully, but, be warned there are glimpses of female genitalia in many parts of the lovemaking. I like my woman tall and firm and this film is full of those types of women! This movie may not win any awards, but it deserves to be nominated for something. You need Dolby THX DTS in your home system to fully enjoy this film. Be warned!!!!

Unfortunately the most exciting views of the landscape is ruined by the participation of the actors and the history falsifying equipment. Starting with a low-D whistle tune while the movie shows a penny whistle, actors, some with modern hair cuts running around in an incomprehensible story with bare armed biker leather outfits and round ringed unriveted or knitted and silver painted "chainmail", wielding fantasy weapons, screaming while performing most epic moves and spins in a very obvious fighting choreography.Hahah, they even used that round ringed unriveted chain as a mosquito net.Had they omitted all humans, this movie would have been worth watching.

I just don't get why this gets bad reviews. I think people forget they're watching a fictional movie and not a documentary. This movie was totally awesome. Great characters, fight scenes, and music/sound. Starts, carries, and ends with mega action. Fight scenes look "killer." Nothing better than Viking sword and hammer fights. Not sure if my questions are spoilers but ... 1. Is Vali a traitor? I'm pretty sure he is but it's never actually confirmed. Can anyone prove either way?2. Why is it called Hammer of the Gods? No mention or appearance of a hammer.

From the beginning of the movie until the very end, the movie was not very connected what so ever. It seemed very forced at how they tried to put everything into the movie. It you like gore and action, the movie will at least hold your attention like it did mine. Other than that, if you don't I would not recommend this movie to you.The movies plot did not seem to have a great story behind it and that is the main reason that I believe this movie flopped. I think it could have been much better with a different story line behind it other than a man trying to find his brother to become the king. The movie overall has some twists and turns, but is very predictable at the end.
