I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies

Sam Elliott was just amazing in this! I have loved the depth and the humility in the warmth and the humor that he brought through with his character. I really feel like it was an Oscar worthy performance and a movie that probably won't be seen by as many people as it could be. I hope we see this performance in another movie with Mr. Elliott because it would be super nice to see him win an Oscar for this caliber of performance. Overall this movie was a little bit hard for me to watch because I am pro-life and pro choice, politically. I think ideally we have to respect that it's a woman's choice and yet offer so many fabulous options that they would not feel like they ever had to do that.

This movie is about a teenager facing an unplanned pregnancy which leads her to go to her grandmother for help(due to the fear of the reaction her mother might give about the situation). The movie is divided into chapters, which in starting I didn't know. Lily Tomlin just did a great job acting as a grandmother with a difference. In all the movie just touches your heart and I hope more movies of the same kind come soon.

Lily Tomlin plays Elle a woman who's life long lover has recently died and she has taken up with a much younger woman but that relationship is now sliding into the rocks. She is an academic who academia has forgotten about and is somewhat disgruntled with the World. Then her granddaughter turns up – this is Julie Garner as Sage. She has some life changing news and needs a quick fix of cash to sort things out.The problem is Elle is more or less broke so, without losing heart, they start on a road trip to find as much cash as they can lay their hands on. On the way both women come face to face with their pasts and the life choices that brought them to this point in time and it is revelatory for both. Now this is billed as a comedy and a lot of it derives from the sour comments and general bad behaviour of Elle. If you think old people being cranky has been done to death as a vehicle for comedy then best to give this a miss. I like it as it works on more than one level. The grumpiness belies a real person who cares, loves and has been through life and she keeps the scars hidden by the outward attitude. As such I felt that this film does indeed have a lot to offer and is very much worth investing the time to see it.

Hard to finish the movie when you hate the main character. Don't get me wrong. I think Lily Tomlin is a great actress and would like to see her in much more movies but awful sentences can make even excellent actor sound unnatural and amateurish. Add to those awful sentences bunch of overused indie movie clichés (like transsexual hairdresser, cool lesbian grandmother etc.) and fair dose of unmotivated screaming (guess for creating comical moments when there is none) you get recipe for disaster. I behaved like a hipster few years ago and had way to much compassion for all sort of indie or European hyped movies and tried to "understand" them or blame myself for not liking them (I thought I missed some greatness or am not educated enough) but no more. I don't like this movie. Sorry
