All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

A road trip through Louisiana transforms three strangers who were originally brought together by their respective feelings of loneliness. Starring William Hurt, Maria Bello, Kristen Stewart and Eddie Redmayne The Yellow Handkerchief is a movie about redemption and about a man trying to find the woman he loves but also it brings all 3 of them together and they try to fight their loneliness and their life problems and by the end of it Brett goes back to May and a new love starts with Martine and Gordy. I can't really find anything bad about this movie except that is slow paced which is fine honestly for a movie like this and all 4 actors really did a great job especially Hurt, Stewart and Redmayne and if you haven't seen it check it out it deserves your time or even better your money for a rent or buy depending your taste in movies.

"The Yellow Handkerchief" (2008) is a road movie about three strangers who travel across Louisiana. The group consists of a 15 year-old girl (Kristen Stewart), a geeky teen who wants to be her boyfriend (Eddie Redmayne) and a mysterious older man (William Hurt) whom the other two learn more and more about. A fourth character is the woman the Hurt character loves (Maria Bello). This is a small indie film with quality actors and a story about love and redemption that smacks of real life and leaves you with a good feeling. It's nothing that'll blow you away but, at the same time, it shows how ordinary people and their stories are more interesting than the most overblown effects-laden extravaganzas. The film runs 102 minutes and was shot in Louisiana.GRADE: B

i was looking forward to seeing this movie. i went to the video store and rented it only to come home and play it and see that they don't offer any captioning options at all. this is very unfair to those of us who are deaf/hard of hearing and need subtitles. they will loose out on DVD sales. i really wanted to watch this too. it just makes me angry when captions aren't offered on dvds. does anyone know of any copies with captions? in English.looked like a good movie. bummer. thanks for the help.-D. i'll just rent something else.

There are movies, such as this and many others, that sometimes don't appeal to people do to the slowness of it all. Nonetheless, I was surprised to see the low rating that it received. The Yellow Handkerchief tells the touching story of three broken individuals, each with their own troubled past and lingering issues; who share one thing in common: the need to escape. The entire plot is centred around a long car journey, in which Martine (Kristen Stewart) and Gordy (Eddie Redmayne)slowly unravvel the mystery of Brett Hanson (Willian Hurt) an unhappy man, recently released from his sentence in prison. The movie is an Indie movie, and it does appear to be rather slow. The script isn't as chatty or invasive as the blockbuster movies we're used to, and there is a lot of scenery. But regardless, the theme of the movie is easy for people to relate to. You don't have to be a convict, or an abandoned child to understand it- the entire story, is about making mistakes. And eventually, the message becomes clearer: that the people who forgive you, and offer you a second chance, are those who love you the most. There are so many different ways to see this movie, that I will point out that that's only my interpretation. I highly recommend this movie, but only if you're in the mood for a more symbolic movie rather than fast paced; action packed thrillers..
