Admirable film.
... View MoreIt's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.
... View MoreIt's an amazing and heartbreaking story.
... View MoreIt’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
... View MoreThis is a grindhouse film also titled "Sickle" after The sheriff in the film (Kane Hodder). Sheriff Sickle runs a town appropriately called "Red Stone." It is isolated from the beaten path so mostly bad guys stop there. After a strip joint has been robbed our bad guys stop there, only to encounter a group of people that make the Wild Wonderful Whites of West Virgina look like French rocket scientists. The film was short in length. It never established character. The plot was short and sweet too. I liked the grindhouse aspect of the film, they just didn't do enough of it.Meets the requirements for a serious grindhouse, if that is all you want.Parental Guide: F-bomb, sex, nudity (Tiffany Shepis, Taryn Maxximillian Dafoe + uncredited strippers)
... View MoreA local gang rob a mafia run strip club, shooting up the place and killing anyone in sight. They head south for the border, but when they enter the town of Redstone and begin terrorizing the locals, they find that crime is a dish best served cold! The film has a decent cast of Kane Hodder, Rena Riffel and Tiffany Shepis, three folks I have had the pleasure to chat with and interview. Whether they are used to their fullest is debatable -- I think Riffel in particular gets short shrift here. The opening credits and much of the film is stylish, somewhere between the Robert Rodriguez grindhouse style and the aesthetic of Rob Zombie. Does it work? Not sure. Some scenes are pretty cool looking, and other times I felt like they tried too hard and did not achieve what they set out for.
... View MoreThere's a drug meet in the desert that goes bad. The surviving pair of criminals run from the cops successfully, but soon find their ends in Redstone, somewhere in Arizona. The sheriff of Redstone is called Sickle for his weapon of choice. We shift to a bar with strippers in some other town. The DJ holds up the safe. One of the bouncers attacks a customer, who kills the bouncer. The strippers and the bartender start killing people. They take off together: Travis, Randy, Jenna, and Tasha.Apparently this is their MO: get jobs at a strip club, then hold up the place. Yakov, who owns this strip club, does not like it.The thieves drive all night, in the wrong direction since the coke head Randy was driving. They end up in Redstone. What could possibly go wrong? The drug addict is more than noticed by the Sheriff. They run for it, but the Sheriff rams them and captures Tasha. Yakov gets Travis' location via Penny, but Sickle kills Travis first. Will Jenna or Randy survive Yakov and Sickle? ------Scores-------Cinematography: 1/10 VHS quality or worse; bad editing all around. Cheap jack coloured lights and filters.Sound: 2/10 Terrible incidental music, especially the nonsense coming from that ancient AM radio played extra loud.Acting: 2/10 So much of the acting was not even amateurish. The +2 is for Kane Hodder and Dan Higgins.Screenplay: 3/10 Yakov kills his accountant inside a paramedics van. The accountant flat-lines right there; the paramedic (ten feet away) does not notice this? The cops are there; the paramedics don't call them? The film did have a beginning, middle, and end, of sorts. It's just that all of them were written and executed badly.
... View More(May Contain Spoilers) It's sad that Kane Hodder will do any film that will pay him because in a film like this he comes out as the only positive. The story jumps around into several parts before overlapping into one general story, you follow gang members who after entering a small town and robbing the place have to deal with the sheriff. Then you have a group of friends who get trapped into town and the one girl gets kidnapped. You then soon find out that Kane Hodder is killing and cooking the people to eat and feed to his fat wife and kid. Honestly the story makes little sense and if you intend on trying to actually follow it then something might be wrong with you. What they try to add to the film for a added bonus is that it is shot to look like a old grind house film with cut moments, blended colors, blurred and deterring film looks and the such. Throw a lot of blood into that and you should have a good film, but it doesn't work in Exit To Hell at all. It hurts it even more. Sure the blood and gore moments may be cool but after viewing the film I could only remember one moment from it. They present nothing new to us.Acting wise you get what you expect and you should be expecting horrible acting. Kane Hodder as expected is the shining star of this acting like he usually does. Nobody else is worth mentioning because they are that forgettable. Expect a lot of people either over acting or just acting horribly.Overall if you want a film with Kane Hodder there are better ones, if you want a horror movie there are better ones, and really if you want anything there is something better to watch. Kane Hodder is the saving grace of this film and because of that he saves it from the worst possible score.Score : 1/10 www.apocalypticdemise.com/2014/01/16/exit-to-hell-2013-movie-review/
