This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

While Sidney and her friends visit the Hollywood set of Stab 3, the third film based on the Woodsboro murders, a new Ghostface begins to terrorize them once again. Scream 3 is once again directed by Wes Craven and stars and Neve Campbell my biggest problem with this film is that it's not as strong as the previous 2 films and Ghostface is not as strong as he was before with Stuart, Billy and Mickey but the film still packs some punches for example the beginning of the film, that scene with the mirrors and Parker Posey or even cameos like Carrie Fisher. Scream 3 is basically the Rocky V of the Franchise neither bad or awful but neither great or amazing just a good sequel with some pretty good moments in it.

Why is it that when it gets to the third installment in a series it lower fresh material and feels old?I really wanted to like scream 3. It has stellar sets, great performances and the lighting was solid. What caused this one to tank starts with the killer going after Cotten instead of her brother figure Dewey who not only would know where to find her, but could be used as ransom to draw her out of hiding. It was stupidity like this that hurt the flow of the film and had viewers disappointed in the series that was suppose to be different from Freddy or Jason. The fear of killing off old characters started to become contrived and handicapped them in finding subplots to fit them in.It even stole plot points from other franchises that we're copying off them. Sidney going into hiding was the same as Halloween H20 and doesn't even try to hide it. Even shoehorning in a half brother who is out to find her only for her to have to take him on one last time and end his reign of terror. However I liked the continuation established her by her father return and wearing the necklace her boyfriend gave her adding realism to an otherwise silly film.It did have its moments of horror that leave an impression but they are far and in between. The meta established early on worked wonderfully at first and filtered out by the end going over board making it all feel fake. While it tried to stay the same scream we all know and love it Only proves three isn't a magic number.

The crew returns to make this horror franchise a trilogy. This time, the killer is stalking Hollywood and the stars of a meta movie Stab 3 based on events of Sydney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and company. Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox) and Dewey Riley (David Arquette) also return as wealthy consultants for the films and amateur detectives. The killer starts with Cotton Weary (Liev Schreiber) and works their way through the actors in the new film in the order that they die in the script. The movie expounds on trilogies and skewers the shallowness of film stars. Randy (Jamie Kennedy) is revived in a video to explain the rules for the third part and this means that things from the past will come back to haunt the main characters. The plot does come around and connect with the other films though the final explanation comes off as a little flimsy. Wes Craven embraces the campiness of this slasher flick a bit more than the first two.Check out more of this review and others at swilliky.com

Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson return for the third installment of the slasher horror that pleased critics and horror fans all around the country in the 90s, only this time, lot less fun or exciting than the previous two. Neve Campbell returns as Sidney Prescott who now works as a crisis counselor and is living isolated deep in the woodsy area of California, traumatized by the violent Woodsboro murders from the first two movies. Back in her hometown, Hollywood director Roman Bridger (played by Scott Foley) is working on slasher horror titled 'Stab 3' based on the Woodsboro murders. The production quickly goes awry when Ghostface makes his return and begins murdering the cast one-by-one. Sidney teams up with Gale (played by Courtney Cox) and Dewey Riley (played by David Arquette) to stop Ghostface's murderous onslaught once and for all.As this is the third installment of the series, there is lots of discussion about movie trilogies, and basically what the characters claim is that the third installment in a film series is about going back to the past and learning a shocking truth of what happened in the first film. We are also introduced to a set of new characters, most of which are very one-dimensional other than Parker Posey and Scott Foley's character. Compared to the previous two films, this one marks a low point for the series. The plot is much less clever and less original, and is completely devoid of scares or good humor. While the plot centers on the characters trying to solve the murders of the cast of the (fictional)movie 'Stab 3', the film throws a huge, needless sub plot of detectives trying to solve of Sidney's mother who was murdered which is made the plot so uneven. To make matters worse, Sidney has reduced screen time and appears in no more than half of the scenes, while the film focuses on Gale, Dewey, and these other new characters. The only thing redeeming about this film is the big twist at the end. Other than that, this film lacks the spirit and scares of the previous movies.Scream 3 is definitely my least favorite of the series and one of the most disappointing third installments I have seen. Unless you are a huge fan of the series, this one is probably worth staying away from.
